Does anyone else get this.

I was diagnosed with asthma in November and have struggled quite a bit getting it under control.I had a chest infection which triggered the asthma,i had broncitis in March which took me weeks to get over.

Last night i was admitted to hospital for the first time with an attack, but the problem i am having is ""stroke like"" feelings as well. This does not keep itself to my left side ruling out a stroke but it affects my whole body and makes communication impossible until i begin to come round.I have had 4 of theses attacks since November but only 1 with passing out.My memory is affected by these attacks i can remember what i was doing leading up to them but it gets sketchy after that.

Please if anyone else has symptoms like these can you help me to understand whats going on,because not only is it scary for me but my family, luckily last night my family were at home otherwise...anyones guess.

thanks loads

Hi winters,

I'm newly diagnosed too. I don't have the symptoms you describe but I do remember pre diagnosis sometimes having a feeling like the sides of my head being compressed, teeth would be chattering as if I was cold and felt about to pass out. Never actually passed out and no obvious trigger that it was going to happen or why.

Following bronchitis in Jan this year, diagnosed with asthma and steroid inhaler prescribed, I find no recurrence of this odd feeling so far. (Crosses fingers and toes).

Sounds maybe like your asthma control needs another close look. Just keep badgering away at the docs. You're worth it. 8)

I was diagnosed with asthma recently following bronchitis in January. I know that when the asthma symptoms get worse I start to feel like I am going to pass out and feel very faint and my body can also shake badly. I guess this is a lack of oxygen to the brain? If it helps I also took weeks to also get over the bronchitis.

Update

Thanks for your replies. There has been a bit of a change today.

Had to go to the Docs this morning because i felt worse today than yesterday.I saw a different doctor today who had no hesitation in prescribing prednisolone and anti biotics. This is the first time i have needed them.I was confused because having been realeased from A&E Monday night with no medication at all and the Doctors there wondering where to send me.This was down to me not wheezing during or after the attack ( i have never wheezed) and my lungs having good rushes of air, stats good pulse a bit higher than normal. So i was given a note to take to my GP with an appointment,on seeing the GP she was sure i had a virus but didnt think i needed any further help unless i got worse.True to the form from my broncitis bout it was worse this morning. When she listened to my chest and back (thats one of the most painful bits) she said i definitely had an infection. She also metioned something i have not heard before either, she said that someone like me with ""severe"" asthma need this type of help now and again.I was under the impression that my asthma was only mild, this doesnt worry me what bothers me is the progression of my asthma. After my broncitis i have got different inhalers and they seemed to be working my symptoms have levelled off.Its worrying about what may happen next with it.So we visit the GP again next week and hopefully things will have improved. Thanks to all.
