As you know, I have had a chest infection and two lots of antibiotics. After the first one, I developed oral thrush, so had nystatin prescribed. After the second one I had both oral and vaginal thrush, so had a one off capsule prescribed about a week ago. Now the oral thrush is back. I have cleaned my spacer, inhalers etc and am due to fly to Southampton in the morning for a three day conference, so it will be tricky getting a prescription. Is there anything you can suggest that I can buy over the counter?
By the way, I am not feeling ill, but still brining gunk up. I have decided to leave that til next week to see how it goes. It's a bit of a worry getting a bad chest so early in the autumn/winter. Nearly everyone I knows is coughing just now.
I believe you can buy Daktarin gel over the counter which is also used to treat oral thrush (having now checked in the BNF, yes you can purchase the 15g tube over the counter).
Any doubts though please do have a chat with your doctor - they may be able to advise you over the phone too.
Hi CathBear
Thank you very much for that information. I will buy a tube tomorow, and see how it goes.
