Views on use of Aromatherapy oils and toxic cleaning products

Hi there,

I have trained in aromatherapy and I am currently looking into the benefits of using aromatherapy oils for Asthma sufferers and wondered if you have any thoughts? I know there has been some controversy on the matter and would just like to get some feedback.

Also your views on cleaning products in the home. I would be really grateful if you could answer the following.

It would be great if you could give me some feedback on the following:

Have you ever used oils/

If so,

did you find them beneficial?

what were the benefits

have you ever had any reactions from using them?

would you prefer to use more natural cleaning products in your home as opposed to the manmade kind?

Many thanks for your time.

Eve

Hi Eve, I have used oils and still do a bit. I did an aromatherapy course about 17yrs ago and have maintained an interest in the subject. I just use Lavendar and Tea Tree now - in the bath and rub them on my throat, chest and feet. I strongly believe in the antiseptic affect and strengthening of immune system.

I dont have any strong feelings about cleaning products - have used more natural cleaners but dont find them as effective as man made. I can understand the strong smells of man made products could affect asthmatics, they even affect my husband who was diagnosed with very mild asthma years ago, but is ok now.

Hope that helps.

Hi. I use oils a lot as have massage and reflex twice a month but have avoid the very strong flowery ones. As for cleaning products i'm very allergic to man made stuff. I use white vinegar and lemon juice. Though sainsbury's have some nice apple wipes and other cleaning stuff. Hope that helps. Catherine
