Hi, I've not heard of anything you can take for the shakes. The ammount of things I drop due to the shakes is awful! I think you what you say to the kids is good. Keep smiling : )

I think the shakes from asthma meds are awful, I am always spilling things because of them.

I know the feeling, picking up a hot drink can be I interesting, and as for writing and typing, oh my god

The shakes are really frustrating, and they make me so clumsy I'm seriously considering buying a tommy tippy cup!

LOL timmy tippee cup! Thats great!

du

I get the shakes, but they are always much worse after an attack.

Im pretty s ure its just a side effect from the salbutamol in my case though

Me too

I am constantly shaking and I know it is because I take ventolin through my neb at home. I have gotten used to it but it is a total pain at times when other people see you spill things or ask if you are ok. What I find is worse is the restlessness at night. Lying in bed exhausted and my legs can't stay still! It is worse if I take my Seritide and Fluoxiitine inhaler just before going to bed. I have to take my nebuliser during the night, so I know I can change that, but I do try and take my inhalers a few hours before bed.

I think what you said to the kids was great and humour is defo the way to get by with having Asthma xx

Getting the shakes when washing up saves you from doing the drying up!!

Howie :)

shakes, or sally shakes as i call them are defo side effect of salbutamol, and i mostly get them from nebs, or if i take 10 x puff via volumatic, which i tend to be doing quite a lot in recent times!!

tonite, or rather this morning, after coming back from costa, sally shakes in residence good and proper!!

tried to give taxi man his money from my purse, tipped my change everywhere :S oops...

Would be nice if there was something we could take! Like the shake for free comment :)

Anyone else find sally shakes last for ages i.e. hours and into the next day after a bad evening esp when need a lot?

Luckily at work, have to have drinks covered (spillage risk to equipment) so everyone uses water bottles or for hot drinks, travel mugs with lids. Did see a rather fetching cow mug in sainsburys pharmacy or baby aisle called I think 'Udderly Brilliant Cow Cup'.

Also, find typing easier than writing (don't need to do much writing luckily) but that does look bad sometimes, have to reread everything before saving to filter out the gibberish.

Great washing up idea, Howie, I usually cheat and use dishwasher but still droppage risk

I actually asked the pharmacist just yesterday as mine were worse than they have been in a long time with racing/palpating heart rate too and she said all the GP would give you is beta blockers ..... but you can't have them if you have severe asthma, so look after your hearts people!!

I do sympathize with you, I too get the leggy shakes in bed at night, and it can drive you insane. As soon as I lie down the pair of them start plotting against my mind and take it in turns to twitch until they shake in unison, and no matter how hard or long I concentrate I cannot stop them.

I spoke to the Doc about them, but as I have Asthma and COPD he cannot give me anything that would not cause me more harm than good, so I guess I'm stuck with them, good job I only share my bed with a teddy bear ...lol

PS, just realized that if I have a few drinkypoo's before bed it doesn't happen, however I don't think alcoholism is the real answer ... lol

Cramp from seretide and shakes from salbutamol. As if asthma wasn't enough on its own! My worst shakes were over the last few weeks when doc prescribed serevent inhaler to be taken alongside my seretide. Eating out was a nightmare. Asthma nurse horrified when learnt of the daily dosage. Stopped my serevent and I'm very glad to report that I can now hold my drink. LOL
