One wonders why Scotland didn't decide to adopt a team that actually has a chance of winning the World Cup...? Perhaps Scots get scared if they progress past the first round... unfamiliar territory... they'd probably all get nosebleeds.
Cathbear has managed to draw Serbia & Montenegro in her surgery sweepstake, so I'll be hoping for an England v S&M (he he!) final.
As for Rooney (aka ""the spud-faced nipper"" - Ian Hislop)... we don't need him against T&T. Not when the worlds most talented washing line prop is in our forward line! Peter Crouch; the most unlikely international player since <insert name of any current member of the Scottish side here>.

Well, no, of course T&T won't be an easy game. They did, after all, qualify for the World Cup finals. And we know how hard that is, don't we Scotland?
Oh, and the England - Germany game you refer to was in 2001, not 2002. The team for that game featured the following players: Gary Neville, Ferdinand, Campbell, Ashley Cole, Gerrard, Beckham, Owen - all of whom are in the current England squad!
Whilst the England team may have trotted out a plethora of excuses after the Paraguay game, I don't hear any England fans saying anything other than, ""we were crap"". Because we were. And we still won. If only Scotland could win when they played poorly. They'd be unbeatable.
And I've said it before - we don't need Rooney. We've got Peter Crouch. And Owen Hargreaves. *That's* quality.

After your last post steve aboot Sweden, I went to check my genealogy tree because I wiz positive that I had a swedish bloodline cause that wiz to be ma second team to support being a neutral supporter of course.
But to my horror I’ve just discovered ma GGG grandfather was born in Amberley, Leeds. The government census records MUST be wrong, I’m sure of it.
I’ve never liked doing this genealogy thingy anyway – just brings bad news if you ask me. Best just put ma tree in the bin and forget aboot it.

of course sven will risk rooney against T&T. he is probably hoping yorkie will get gealous as he remembers being a quality player at man u and decides to injury him further. thus saving sven's precious sweden form rooney. i expect him to filed the likes of 'quality'players like hargreaves and theo will get a run then. thus allowing both england and sweden to go through. i'm guessing this will free the way for sven to be the next swedish manager.
and never mind scotland there is always euro 08 to look forward to. you never know we might have 2 british teams in it. england and northern ireland. at least you scots get to see some of your old players in the commentery box. where they strangely refer to 'us' and 'we' and yes they are talking about England :-).

Well I am all ready here, I have my INGERLAND hat, whistle and football rattle Phil the ashtma reg is on call this weekend and he has told me not to go splatt during the game (I did the other day) thankfully the SHO is spanish and less football orientated although with Phil, Andy (Cons) and half the patients going on about it he has no choice but to be vaguely interested.
