It snowed whilst I was at clinic today. Lovely and picturesque.

That's Leicester added to the list.

Hi

You lucky things.

Where i live, furthest north west you can go and still be in Scotland, we dont tend to get snow or even frost!!

Hopefully we will still hear the sleigh bells though!

Have a lovely xmas all.

Mid Essex very snowy! 15cm in the back garden! Brrr!

Oh and the wheelie bin had frozen shut!

Yep Essex has lots! and more expected today, yay!

Hope we get alot more love it xxx still on the ground x

There is no snow in our small part of Renfrewshire for about a five mile radius - the snow gods have decided to draw a corral around our town and defend us from the snow flurries that have hit the rest of the surrounding county/country and caused much fun and hilarity.

PS see this. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8418...

edit - added link.

Wow someone else from Worthing - i swear no-one ever has a clue where that is!! Yep it was really deep this morning, our school was the only one left open and within 30 mins of arriving we were dismissed due to lack of teachers!! Most of its gone mushy now, but there's rumours of more...

Minus 5 and still no snow. is it true can be too cold for snow?

GM, I believe it can be too cold for snow. My parents always say it's not going to snow when I looks like it, just by the temperature. It's not cold when it snows, wonder why?

No snow here on the somerset/dorset borders, but Brrrrrrrrr. -4.8 this morning, just wondering if it's too cold to go for a run?

still snow on the ground and ice.to cold to go.hope for alot more xxx

newcastlew snow and blizzards of it!!

stoke on trent more snow tonight and sticking, brill snow fights x

WOW more snow today, woke up to find it snowing.

loads of snow here, woke up to blizzards today and very deep and lying on roads aswell

Might be lucky to get into work tomorrow and if i do think we will end up being sent home early as more is due

some snow so deep here gets in your boots :)

Loads of the white stuff here in Rossendale, East Lancashire. Serious thoughts are taking place about how I can attend the slave camp tomorrow. Maybe try and take the greener option and get on the mucky public transport - if it turns up. Deep around 100mm

got snow in South Somerset. We have just driven home going through Hampshire and Dorset, no snow there so was surprised to find our home town covered in the stuff!

Hi All,

It's bonus time.

Not only have we deep and crisp white stuff, we are having a tunder and lighting sound and light show as well. remember save all your work on your PC's in case the power goes off

Thin snow came last night. Unfortunately, its fallen over the ice of the last week. Everyone is doing a variety of balletic positions as they walk down our way.

more snow in wigan! its ice more than snow tbh. Ice roads and no gritters x

can understand gripes about snow def got snow in skem and as fast as my road clears to slush it snows again and everything is white. likewisev they don't see the need to grit the road cause not a bus route aaggh i hate driving in snow and ice yet bootle and liverpool where i work are clear.

light dusting of snow here on the somserset/dorset/devon border. Made the roads like a skating rink, no gritters - ever, so those trying to drive looks interesting. Me I don't bother, something I learnt in previous winters, my car doesn't like icy roads. Strange as Sweden has more snow and ice you'd think they'd make cars that would go on those roads.

Re not gritting.

Can see the point about bus routes but what about the streets with only one way out.

Looked back the diaries and yup! only seen it to be gritted three times. One day the bin lorry came down, twirled gracefully sideways and narrowly missed car parked in driveway. We see the snowplough and gritters pass by at the top of the road on the main street but they never hang a left and come down, even though we have no other way out.

still snow around in stoke on trent and side roads so icey.out come my big grip boots.

Only a light dusting of the white stuff in Herefordshire the past couple of days, now that the the wind has dropped not quite so cold. Main roads fine, but side roads and pavements extremely icy and as I found out yesterday myself the black ice on pavements can be pretty treacherous, nursing her bruised shins.

some bus routes they have not even gritted! the main roads near me are icy in places or even slutch. its mental and apparently more snow on way for nw and se x

About 12 noon yesterday, something big and yellow appeared in our street. We all looked out, scratching our heads. Hmm. A distant memory stirred. Could it be...? Yes. its a gritting lorry. Rushed for camera. Yay! We celebrated by clapping our hands and waving. Grit!!

Course an hour or so later, all the snow the snow gods had been keeping away from us, breached the invisible walls and dumped itself in one go. Went shopping on clear roads - came out an hour or so later and traffic was moving at 2 mph due to incredibly heavy snow fall. Took hour and a half to cover usual ten minute journey. Gave myself big pat on back cos I got home with no waltzing from side to side or loss of traction like other drivers.

hey, snow in stoke on trent, coming down lots and still got last lot. hey who wants a bucket full hahaha.

merry christmas xxxxx

Snow in Monaghan, Ireland. It took me 3 hours to do a 1 and a half hour journey today. Well unimpressed.

GM, big yellow thing, getting them to do the gritting has been a battle, the damn thing goes along the road here twice a day to grit other roads, but doesn't do the one it has to drive along, ours is only a cat 3 (only gritting class 1 & 2), meaning cars and myself included can't get out, several emails to local council and this morning the lorry not only did the main road, but also did our little access road, left several heaps of grit. They've learnt from past experience that the next thing would have been a call to the local MP, who then shouts at them. Right now though, the only big yellow thing I want to see is the sun high in the sky.

Anyone still got snow. Stoke on trent's mostly gone x

Renfrewshire/Ayrshire still has snow - lots of it.

We still have deep snow. Yesterday we had a lovely run down to Ayrshire and the Kintyre hills were beautiful in the snow. Unfortunately I'd left camera at home.

Today, we went back down that way to take photos but thick mist hid the faraway view.

We took a side road to get up onto top of moor, see if we could get above the cloud. Slight heart failure at one point as the road ahead suddenly rose and showed itself to be too clogged with snow to go any further. Steep hill at the back of us, all credit to DH as worked us out and found the grip to get us safely backwards downhill to a 'turning place' and in a homeward direction again.

wigan now has ice :(

got snow on the way in next 24 hours. :) in stoke on trent

south side of glasgow has had lots of snow but big freeze looks like it is upon us.

new shiny year

we have snow here at last in wexford, ireland!absolutely beautiful!

Happy New Year! Heavy snow falling in York now. Bit concerned as my sister and her partner have just left to drive home to Suffolk. Fingers crossed it isn't snowing further south.

few snow flakes its not fair, come on snow we need a lot:(

light dusting to wake upto this morning, but going to do a female thing...few more inches please!

More big flakes of snow! Falling ever so nicely. Daughter five miles down the road huffed cos she has only the older snow and ice. Says our wee town has snaffled it all.

Snoooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. In East Ren.

loads snow in skem was job and half to get to work as M58 terrible

Fed up with snow in North Yorks now. About 4-5 inches on top of already lying snow in York today. Journey to work horrendous and wheezy. Struggling to get out and about and so many schools closed. Libraries closing early today (I work for them but behind the scenes in city centre offices) and bin collections cancelled for some areas this week. No garden waste collection for the rest of the mth. Am annoyed as I fill my green bin every 1-2 weeks with bedding from guinea pigs! Didn't want to have to put it in my grey bin! More forecast every day this week. I thought it was beautiful when it first fell in York but it's been too weeks now and rumours the council is running out of grit!

loads of snow in south yorks......... just got son to school only to be told and hour later they closed!, so its taken all morning getting him there and back and now hes outside building a snowman... great for kids... not so great for my asthma!, but I love the snow to look at hence the name lol

Coming home from doctors, last night we had either ice or compacted snow. At lunch went for a little walk 2-3 inches of lovely powder snow! No buses running, thankfully my day off. The kitchen cupboards are getting a little bare!

Yes Snow In Droitich yesterday with extra overnight along with the frozen ice underneath.

I remember when I was younger that no school closed when it snow ,but then there were less cars on the road and most people worked locally and walked. And of course there was no central heating or double glacsing and the windows had ice inside!!!

Another day stuck indoors it drives me crazy

bless our postie

nothing going stop him coming, must be really hard in the snow

Lots of snow here (near Oxford). We're on about 25-30cm at the moment. Was working in Oxford last night, lots of snow and even the main raods almost impassible.

Always packed up the car with sleeping bag, shovel, flasks, etc on husband's wintry journeys. In the days before mobile phones, there was generally someone at the other end who knew the conditions and when he would be expected.

Can remember heavy snows when I was travelling across the city to school. Walking through the snow was made slightly easier because in those days everyone swept the snow from their gate and so did the shopkeepers from outside their shops. Why did we stop? Because we were told if someone slipped on your cleared area, then they could claim you for no clearing properly. This year, according to the television news, we are being told to clear our pavements - who is going to stand behind us, should the postie fall in early morning snow/ice and a claim comes in?

IMO Councils never used to have a problem in clearing main roads, days gone by. No fancy snowploughs or gritters. Lorries with snowplough blade attached and gangs of men with shovels. Basically the road mending gangs of the summer, did the snow clearing and salting of the winter. Fixed metal bins of sand at end of secondary roads were refilled every winter for householders' use for paths and driveways.

Even so, always packed up the car with sleeping bag, shovel, flasks, etc on husband's wintry journeys. In the days before mobile phones, there was generally someone at the other end who knew the conditions and when he would be expected.

Lots of snow here in Mid Essex - It hasn't stopped all day I think! A good 15cm out there.

I managed to unpack the car of snow and drive to my OPD app! Me thinking no one else will bother..... I think everyone else thought the same! Car park hideous and cars stuck all over the place.

Very pretty out there..... hope it doesn't freeze cos won't be able to get to work tomorrow! : (

GM, agree with you, but that's the way things are going. We used to get the plough along the verges to cut them back every other year, but not been done for nearly 20 years now, and drain get blocked, all because the whole road maintenance is now centrally controlled and budgeted, but in the old days local people lived and worked on maintaining the roads, which actually worked, my uncle was one here, and if something needed doing,it was fixed, he knew where all the drains were, which needed unblocking frequently, what the icy spots were going to be and put heaps of grit beside the roads, but the council are no longer allowed to do that thanks to the environment agency, but what about what gets put on the road? it has to be put in plastic bins that hole sod all, and are few and far between due to their cost, not so Great Britain any more is it?

Snow has caught us out before, though.

Here is a clip from the newspapers early 2006.

ON a typical Saturday night, the priority for most revellers as they pour out of Glasgow's pubs and clubs is to find a taxi, and possibly a kebab.

With not a cab in sight and a blanket of snow quickly proving a hazard for women in high heels, the crowds shared only one concern early yesterday: escaping the cold.

As transport ground to a standstill, shivering taxi queues were ushered into emergency shelter at the city's Central Hotel, Buchanan Street bus station and the Garage nightclub on Sauchiehall Street , which provided uncharacteristic comfort to around 3000 people.

Among those struggling to sleep amid the empty plastic glasses and cigarette ash of the dancefloor were Alec Dobson, 38, and Colin McAlpine, 40, both joiners from Greenock.

The pair had been at the nearby casino, but, once it became clear that a taxi to Greenock was impossible, they were rounded up by police, who were directing revellers into the club.

Mr McAlpine said: ""We had no choice. It was chaos.

""We didn't think the weather was too bad at first, but it got worse.

""They rounded us up and put us in the club, but unfortunately the bar wasn't open. That was the downside.""

Mr Dobson said: ""There was no trouble. Everybody was in quite good spirits.""

His friend added: ""The police were there all the time, and if there was any hassle it was sorted out very quickly. I think they were trying to get order for everyone's safety.""

They explained that police restricted the numbers leaving the club, in order to prevent the public – many of whom were inappropriately dressed for trekking through a foot of snow – wandering the streets with little hope of catching a lift home.

Having slept little on the dancefloor, the men decided to make their way to Central Station in time for the first trains.

All trains to Greenock were cancelled, and the pair – cold and hungry – began Sunday morning with breakfast and a pint at the bar of a hotel.

Anne Kelly, of Kirkintilloch, said: ""I was out in Glasgow and had a fantastic time before trying to head home in the snow in my strappy toeless sandals and ended up in the Royal Infirmary with frostbite affecting my little toe. I will never wear strappy sandals again.""

By early afternoon yesterday, most of those stranded were on their way home.

However, at the reception of the Central Hotel, three young men were still sleeping upright on chairs.

Dressed in thin shirts, Steven Gardy, 22; Chris Miller, 26, and his younger brother Gary, had one lightweight jacket between them during the night, as they wandered the city centre, seeking shelter in shops and bus stops, after emerging from Buffalo Joe's, another city centre nightclub.

Mr Miller said: ""There was meant to be a bus, but that didn't turn up.""

In the meantime, they said, they were just going to have to wait, hopeful and cold.

Scotland was paralysed by blizzards yesterday, with as much as 14 inches of snow causing chaos.

Airports were closed, train and bus services were crippled and roads became impassable following the country's heaviest snowfall in recent years.

The brunt of the problems were felt in the south-west. Weather experts said some areas were blanketed by almost twice as much snow as had been expected.

Around 3000 people were stranded in Glasgow overnight after the transport system ground to a halt early yesterday.

Strathclyde Police helped to co-ordinate emergency shelter for shivering revellers, directing them towards cover in a nightclub, bus station and hotel.

A force spokesman said: ""There was no way we would have left people out on the streets in those conditions.""

Many roads throughout the country were either blocked or only passable with care. Bitter winds gusted up to 40mph, creating 3ft-deep drifts in some places. Police recommended motorists should not venture out unless travel was essential.

An RAF rescue operation was launched when a pregnant woman had to be airlifted to hospital because her ambulance could not battle through drifts in Ayrshire.

Roads chiefs at Amey had a fleet of about 40 gritters out in an attempt to keep routes in central and southern Scotland clear.

The M74, the main road between Scotland and England, was closed at Beattock, resulting in three miles of standing traffic.

At one stage, every road out of Dumfries and Galloway was closed. Farms were cut off in many areas and some did their shopping by tractor.

Vehicles were also stranded on the Erskine Bridge, which crosses the River Clyde linking Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire. The link was closed for around five hours.

White-out conditions were reported across Aberdeenshire, with drifts forcing the A90 down to a single lane, while the A9 to Inverness closed in two places.

Police throughout Scotland reported a spate of abandoned vehicles, with many motorists unable to reach their destination.

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports were closed for several hours yesterday, with several incoming flights diverted – including two transatlantic flights.

Officials with airport operator BAA said they hoped the situation would return to normal today.

Train services to and from Glasgow Central station were also suspended and delays were reported across the rail network. First ScotRail said services were being reinstated, as lines, stations, and platforms were cleared for safe use.

Off-duty staff had volunteered to help in the clear-up work, mainly across the west of Scotland. Contractors and staff began working 12-hour shifts from 8pm last night to make as many platforms as possible fit for use this morning.

A spokesman added: ""We plan to run the maximum number of services on Monday, but there could be some disruption subject to the weather.""

People faced waits of more than three hours to get taxis in Glasgow yesterday morning – with one firm admitting it had only 12 of its 900-strong fleet of cabs on the streets.

A spokesman for ScottishPower confirmed around 2000 homes in rural areas of Dumfries and Galloway and south Ayrshire were left without electricity as a result of the weather.

Glasgow City Council had its 44 gritters out throughout the day and private contractors were called in to grit residential areas.

The snow also forced the closure of all the museums and art galleries across the city, while many schools across Dumfries and Galloway, Fife and Clackmannanshire were expected to be closed today.

Elsewhere in Britain, there was also heavy snow in the north of England, with cities including Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool affected.

Aye its a bad day when the people of posh county town Dumfries have to do their shopping by tractor and folk in the big city of Glasgow are using skis to get to work.

We are on our second snow day yippee,3rd tomorrow! We have made a snowman, gone sledging wearing cycle hats!! and today made a massive igloo with all the snow in the garden and I sped down our local road going bum over boobs after falling over twice (was trying to walk on the pavement!!) with my youngest Son looking on horrified. How dignified. God I ache, I'm covered in bruises and am in agony (may have damaged hand) but I'm still laughing so much!Hope you are all keeping safe and well in this beautiful but dodgy weather

shame can't post pics, would love see some of the igloo and snowman...thinking about you other one, but may laugh, that would be cruel. Hope your hands Ok though, I did my hand in a few years back when slipped on the ice with the bike, had it all wrapped up at hospital for ages.

On Wednesday the snow had made a tree fall across my road, so I had no way out. On Thursday morning I saw a man actually skiing through my village. And late Thursday night I only got my car out of the snow drifting car park with the help of three local hoodies. Wondering what today will bring.

hi all havey snow here in lincolnshire today. Have got to walk into work later!

forecast not looking good for the weekend, and early next week, is it just me that's getting P'd off with the snow and ice now?

Hope all stay warm, safe and well.

I have been visiting friends in the scottish borders since new years eve we have been snowed in several times now as they have already had snow for weeks and weeks before the 'big freeze' the snow now comes up past my knees in places! We also had a car crash due to frozen ice on the road and ended up in a ditch not very fun! I have never seen so much snow!!!

getting fed up now, have to borrow a generator in case electricity go's so i can use the nebuliser, can't use the woodburner, moan, moan, moan, and ca't even have a good snowball fight, standing at the windows while kids throw them at me!also, they keep saying its the worst for nearly 50 years, when i was born in 1963 and and am nowhere near 50(birthday this week-a bit of a touchy subject)!

snow in Sittingbourne Kent

Hi everyone, hope you r all ok.

We've had 5 - 6 inches and met office have another severe weather warning for Kent this afternoon with more heavy snow on the way. Its been snowing on and off all morning.

I have just got of a viral infection and have only been out to feed birds the last couple of days.

Feeling a bit like a caged animal and really fed up with this white stuff now - please go.

Keep warm everyone. Take care.

Iona, I agree this is nothing. I remember 82' well snow was lots deeper, up top the hedges along the roads, and dad opening the porch door one morning and greeted by a snow wall 2/3rd way up the door, luckily we had a shovel in the porch, oh what fun tunneling was as a kid.

we had more snow here last year, and it was a lot, colder earlier in the winter November and December was the coldest I've known by day, I was froze to the core, literally no matter what I wore or did, not like that this year.

Father talks about '63, now that was cold, snow and ice till early March, Ice broke the trees down under the weight, as well as the electricity wires, so no electric either until the thaw came.

We've just become use to modern living and forgotten the basics.

give it out bad for stoke on trent next 2 days got lot of snow on the way, brill

Hmmm.....yes it's very pretty but I've had enough of the snow and ice and disruption now. Would like a break!

Edited to add a bit

We moved to EK in 1977 - 77/78 Snow was hedge high.

We then moved to Glasgow in 1981 - 81/82 - Ditto.

We then moved to East Ren in 1986 and what do you know? - 86/87 - Ditto.

After that we decided not to move anymore - so don't blame us for 09/10. (Although we did shift the house and garden around a bit last year).

1963 - my winter memories are of walking home that last mile in the dark, after stepping off the decidedly chilly and scary bus journey from my new primary school 10 miles away. Wellies slapping against bare legs cos my socks always slid down to ankles and sometimes right down under my instep. Trench coat flapping open in the wind and school pudding-bowl hat not providing any heat at all. Fat chance our school being shut when most of the pupils and teachers lived in the surrounding area of Byres Road and could walk to work. Those few of us who lived that bit further out just had to grin and bear it.

I'm so glad the girls of today have the chance to wear Ugg-type boots, tights, leggings and fleece-lined coats even if half the time, being teens, they choose not to wear them. At least they have that choice. Ditto the chance of a warm lift to school.

Its snowing again, in sunny East Ren.

Snowing again in Worthing, West Sussex........SO not used to this!!

WOW more snow in stoke on trent, gave it out for the next few days x

Lol Glynis!! You're entirely too cheerful about the continuance of the white stuff!

hi FEE,

Off you go then GM, I'm staying beside the fire like a wimp

stoke on trent had snow overnight and still coming down

No more snow. Ours is rapidly turning back to knobbly ice.

i just wish the lot that fell last tuesday/wednesday and is still here would soon clear off, still just as deep and showing no signs of moving, and more forecast for tomorrow, damn even my lungs don't like it.

stoke on trent got more snow overnight and still coming down

Just had a text from OH in the ambulance service. Nottingham's declared a major incident because of the snow and are calling in help from all over the East Midlands. They've had 126 calls stacked for the past 3 hours, 40 of those are Catagory A (DIB etc).

Bloomin snow go away, don't come again another day

Slight dusting over todays thick ice.

stoke on trent is all mushy now and dont think we will have anymore snow, but hey! weather forecasts aren't always right, :0(

More snow! Cars no use getting out of our wee street again.

Elephant,

every region has been on major alert! St John Ambulance in Essex etc has been supporting East of England Amb Serv since before Christmas with the 4x4s. Same will all regions I suspect, just people don't really hear about it apart from 'Don't call 999 unless you really need to' ..... which should be true all the time due to the huge amount of abuse the emergency services get.... However, uncontrolled asthma is an emergency so please don't think you don't need to bother them!

Anyway, Snow slushy & puddly here! Yuckkchch!

Hesitate to say the snow is going. Going to say the snow is clearing, instead.

GM (touches wood)

all gone here at last, hope don't see any more till Christmas...1 more wish....SUN

wondering if the snows actually gone, just had email from the Met office.

16/11:03: Heavy Snow - South West England

ADVISORY of Heavy Snow for South West England valid from 0001 Wed 20 Jan to 2359 Wed 20 Jan

but they've been wrong before.............actually when are they correct ;)

thankfully almost all of the foot and a bit of snow we had on our street has gone :-) the other day the roads were deadly very compacted snow and like sheet ice everywhere but main roads -which had pockets of black ice.

Although it is great that the white stuff is going or gone in most places the higher ground like woodhead pass and the snake pass etc going over the pennines are still very very snowy and treacherous in places.

Just when we will be settling in to the fact that the snow has gone and we can escape our houses for a little while the white stuff will be back. The south east of england up towards the midlands etc are expected to get more snow on wednesday. The forecast did say that its gonna get very cold over monday through to wednesday again as the weekend is going to be relatively warm and mild. Once it hits freezing again the forecaster said that the snow will stick easier anywhere that is lower than freezing or that still has lying snow.

Think there will be a lot of cold weeks during this years winter. Did anyone else get a cold weather payment of £25 for the last couple of weeks. It came with a very nice letter stating that it was given out for every week that the temperature was lower than the average temperature worked out by the met office for the time of year etc.

Take care everyone and drive or walk carefully as most places are running very low on grit i know places near the coast are using beach sand :-) shame does those not near the coast though hey? So take things carefully. And on an asthma front do make sure that you are wrapped up warm and if cold is a trigger then wrap a scalf over your nose and mouth.

Big meltdown in the north east

Woke up really disappointed this morning as I realized that all the snow had melted overnight:-( I'm gutted as I just managed to get a sledge this morning as they were sold out constantly over the last 29 days:-( wanted to have a sledging weekend so what am I going to do now?? I could screeeeeam lol. Xx

Lydia, you may get chance yet, but be very careful, a mate of mine went sledging with his kids last week and broke his arm, OUCH, kids managed to escape unhurt.

hiya lydia

I wouldn't worry that this batch of snow has gone winter has only just begun really and i dont know what its like up north where you are but in the midlands/east it is always at its worst in february. We always get the odd flutterings of snow round new year and then get loads in february! So i would pop the sledge somewhere till it snows again which it will and even a light sprinkle of the white stuff can lead to sledging as this country is totally and utterly rubbish and generally goes into meltdown whenever we get a tiny bit of snow. And all this no grit stuff are the weather people and councils bonkers surely they should have had plenty of time to plan stratagies and order enough grit they do this every year you'd have thought someone at the top would have realised this and ordered more this year as the winters have generally had periods of snow and ice and so called big freezes! Grr sorry this post turned into a little rant but it does make me wonder sometimes - when america and russia etc can cope fine and they get some horrendous weather and very deep snow! Totally bonkers!

Anyways lydia its bound to be sledgable weather again some point soon.

Take care lotsa lv kitkat Xx

met office are now wondering if they should stop long range forecasts, think 8 hours is a long time for them, maybe they should just give up.

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tec...

Friends had someone from Finland visiting. No problem getting to airport on Finnish side. They were amazed at how bad the snow made travel over here. I'd like to know if their roads and pavements break up in the frost too. The potholes around here make me very glad I traded in my snazzy car last year. I'd have been out a fortune for those ultra low profile tyres. Also, condensation from its massive glass roof would have dripped on me like nobody's business. LOL

more snow forcasted tuesday onwards in stoke on trent and most places ,high grounds hit most.

dancing on ice

Very foggy tonight and back to skating rink pavements up in East Ren. Again. 8(

Rain mixed with snow when driving home over the moors. EK to Barrhead.

Snowed all day in Crawley! Back home in Worthing though - nary a flake.

Meltdown

Well, where's all the White stuff gone? Only some mountains of snow left on the side on higher grounds. My new sledge feeling very neglected lol x

It's starting again

There have been a few snow flakes in the north east again just a few mins ago. Not laying but apparently more to come! Can't get my sledge out today anyway as I'm working 11hrs:-( x

East renfrewshire. Teensy bit of snow this morning. Didn't lie long. Crossing fingers doesn't come to anything. Might be driving later on.

Snow in the northeast

Well, here we go again! Had quite heavy snow fall 2 nights ago, still there and YEAH I got the new sledge out 1st time;-) only for a bit though it was too cold for my poor lungs...

Felt like a kid again for a bit so reeeeaaaly pleased;-) xx

Dusting of snow here in Kidlington.

Snow and ice hanging about down our wee street, rest of town remains clear. Parade of baby elephants across chest today. End of pred course yesterday, crossing fingers don't need more. %)

coming down heavy again in south yorks, already a good few cm deep and only being snowing for past hour!

Can some one help me? I have a feeling of De Ja Vu or is it a dream. The ""mana from heaven"" is falling down again and blocking the roads up here at the top of the Penines in East Lancs. One tip is not to eat yellow snow!

Snowing all over Strathclyde.

Dam weather, even me the snow queen is starting to dislike the snow :-(

Snowy

Woke up this morning to about 3 inches of snow and it is still snowing here in nottingham city centre. Only very light at the moment but I just hope it stops very soon as the kids are due back at school tomorrow and if it is the same as it is right know they wont be going as I am not walking my Ryan to school in this weather with the way his asthma is at the moment. I like snow but I hate the way it makes my Ryan so ill because of how cold it is

Snow in Kidlington. Again! Fed up with the white stuff.

More white stuff in Kidlington.

snowing in stoke on trent wow!

1.30 a.m. It's snowing in that light way that settles gently into deep drifts and cuts off our little street from civilization some few hundred yards away.

Heavy snow in glasgow. Hoping for rain later

Heavy snow meant our wee granddaughter staying over as would've been daft to drive her home in this snow. Meant to be looking after the wee one Friday/Saturday. Might still be here till then. LOL.

Still have snow around us.

We have snow drops here in Devon do they count?

Hi bex, in lieu of the real thing, yes.

Last day of March and we still have snow on the ground.

Snow on the snowdrops too.

Edit: added last line.

had sleat and snow in stoke on trent

There was snow in Huddersfield up on the hills today could see it from my bedroom window and some cars passed that were covered in snow too during morning rush.

we have hail in huddersfield, it has been hailing on and off all day.

Walking down our main street this afternoon, I said to DH that it was so nice to see the hills in green again.

Famous last words!!! Perishing cold tonight and snow is forecast to hit later tonight or tomorrow.

PS it snowed briefly that night. Photos to prove it.

While unseasonably warm over most of the country, last week was snowing in Pitlochry and message from the Cairngorms is the ski season is still going strong. We're going north again on holiday and I was busy saying its ok we'll be on the west coast - until DH pointed out we go via the Lecht and Aviemore.

Woolly jumpers, wellies, shorts and t-shirts. Thats the clothes to pack for a Scottish holiday. LOL

Nanna ,so gelous love the snow, have a great holls ,LOLalways x

Thanks. If we see snow, will take photos.

snow in Cornwall but not settling here.

Yey! Snow in stoke on trent today! Only a bit but looks more to come by the sky 80)

Overheard.

Two genteel ladies talking to one another in the middle of Marks & Sparks.

""No snow yet awhile. ""

""Oh it'll come. I hate it when it snows in winter.

2-3 inches overnight and yes it managed to snow on my b'day yest yet again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snowy

YAY! we got an inch or 2 here in Redditch.

Take care everyone and wrap up warm! xx

We've had about an inch of snow near Sheffield, but it's enough to render the car unusable as it just can't get enough grip to get up the steep hill to the main road.

Woke up to snow in stoke on trent yey!!!! put my cat Mason and dog Jack out in it to take pics,Jack loves it but Mason ran back in after snapped a pic of him hahaha x

Snow arrived late last night here in sunny Barrhead.

in milton keynes they have been predicting snow for the last week and we must be the only place that has not had it yet, when it did not arrive last night it was not enough to cover the path and has now melter so was not proper snow, i hate it and dont want it as it makes walking and getting to appiontments harder, and last time i fell over on my back which is good when i have a curved spine and a dodgy back and hurt my knee so dont want to be falling over this year and my mobilty is worse

There was a lovely inch thick blanket of snow this morning near sheffield, enough to stop the car getting up the steep hill to the main road. The snow's melting a fair bit now, i just hope it doesn't refreeze and become black ice!

We've got snow in Kent

It started snowing at 5am & now there is a nice layer. Hubby went out in the car & crashed on the way back home skidding on the ice! Fair bit of damage done to the car but hubby is ok. Hope everyone else with snow is keeping warm & safe.

About 2 inches here too in Cornwall.

Half a foot in Irish border region. It's rubbish snow that you can do fe*k all with. Grrrrr! I wanted to make a snowman!

Staying in warm and snug. No way can anyone get up and out of our wee road. Snowed most of the morning. Down to a fine mist of snow falling now. Sparkly like glitter. :)

SNOWED IN !!!

We are literally snowed in in south yorks, snow fell overnight over 3 feet and the car is buired, road ourside my house in no longer a road and my hubby went out to try and clear a path and it was up to his bum !, and its still coming down and due to snow all day so who knows how much we will have, my hubby & son have just set out to walk to the loacl shop to try and get some food and its up to the waist on my 12 yr old son! oh boy...

Was supposed to be seing doc this morn ! Ha Ha fat chance!

Snowy - literally my namesake

We have a covering about a mm here in Ryde on the Isle of Wight - pretty pathetic - but am grateful as at docs this morning.

Snowed all day yesterday in Barrhead. Wishing I lived on main road. Gritter came down Tuesday early on. Right before started snowing again. Fat lot of use as grit now buried under eighteen inches of snow. Will be Shanks's pony to collect cat food and bit of shopping.

had a lot more in stoke on trent and my school clossed!

Wow the snow in my back garden is higher than my waist! Can't open the back door, lol. But to be fair a lot of snow has fallen from the roof! Was only up to my knees this morning, surgery closed at lunch time, yippeee!!! No phones till 8am tommorow......Want to build a snowman but don't think family will let me, bah humbug! Take good care everyone, Lois

Needed to get to the hospital today and could not get a taxi as they wouldnt pic phone up after

ringing 3 taxi numbers.

Went to get the bus.

Gave the bus driver 10 pound and he had no change,so I got 150 out of my pocket to show

him I had no more chance .

The lovely bus driver put me down as a child fair and charged me 120 ,nice to see some

good folk about hahaha x

West Yorkshire has come to a stand still......well it has by me!

My chickens are not impressed with the snow, could hear them complaining from their run all afternoon. I wouldn't mind if they were in the snow but they have a covered run, coop with microwaved pet cushion for warmth and porridge and sweetcorn for supper :-O

We have about 2 ft here in buxton (derbyshire) and its still coming down thick and fast, cant tell whats a road and whats a pavement, cars are burried, busses not running schools shut ... all fun and games!

Wahoo - we have proper snow! about a ft. It's very nice to look at but the whole of the island has come to a standstill.

We currently have about 12inches of snow which has been falling on and off since late Monday early Tuesday. I also have a bad cold which has now turned into a chest infection. Wheezing but not doing too bad using inhalers and yes i will get my self seen if it gets too bad. Hubby giving me the look that says 'if you carry on like that i'm calling the little green men'. I'm just hoping he doesn't get the cold as he has COPD!!!!!

Plenty here in Mid Essex! I can see a car shaped igloo from my window.

Braved work yesterday but not going anywhere today, supposed to be going for a Christmas meal tonight. Driving in the day is hard work, evening & night - will probably give it a miss as the roads / slush will freeze.

May pop round the corner to the hedge to see if any birds are munching the berries.

So glad I invested in some decent warm boots on Sunday!

x

more snow today, shame carnt put pics up on here, sound great where you all live 80) x

We don't have a huge a mount in Herefordshire, but it is damn cold brrrrrr. Lottie dog loving it, and keeps doing her version of snow angels. Went over on my bum today whilst out with Lottie but thankfully due to being padded well around the rear end bounced nicely. Wishing I had 4 paw drive though!

Successfully traversed leaving our snow covered street and over the mounds of snow on dual carriageway, only to almost go my length on climbing indoor stairs of local curry house. Covered in a kind of linoleum, they were lethal with snow from folk's boots. Took the rest of the stairs one step at a time, sideways and holding the rail. Husband did likewise. Same on the way down. Almost spoiled a good night out and no, we didn't leave a tip.

Snowed in for the second day, school is shut & we are having a duvet day! Enjoy your days whatever you are doing!

S.Mama

We decided to go and do some Christmas shopping today as its the first day in nearly a week we haven't had any new snowfall, and the main roads are pretty clear now (also I'm getting very stressed that we're not sorted yet). We dug the car out fine, got to the shopping centre without any problems, even managed to drive back without a hitch until we had to park the car up...that was when we got stuck with the car halfway into the spot. The neighbours were really nice and lent us a snow shovel and helped us to clear the way, but were a bit surprised that we were digging our car back in so to speak lol.

Aw.. nimueh, made me smile. Our snow is covered by layer of thick ice and treacherous to walk on. DH out yesterday with hammer and spade to break up and remove from path.

Think we should change the title to 'post if you haven't got snow'. Lol.

Rain yesterday, rapidly turned into heavy snow - the type that's oh so tiring to walk through. By mid morning, snow deep again and half way up the door of previously cleared car. Tiring to walk through. Gritters and snowploughs caught in tailbacks on main roads. Fun day.

Hope any readers in similar weather, are all keeping as warm as can be.

Here in Kent the snow has been washed away by the rain but replaced by freezing fog. I am not going out as I know what it will do to my chest! Thank goodness for friends who can help out with the school run! Take care everybody.

S.Mama

had some snow over night, just a dusting but hope get some more x

I love the snow when I don't have to go anywhere. Hopefully it will stop so we can go skiing on Sunday (to prove to my boyfriend I still can!) and so the airport will be OK for us to fly south for Christmas.

No snow 2 am this morning, Lottie just wanted to make sure! 8 am and Lottie nicely snuggled up on sofa whilst Hereford and its surroundings snow bound again.

stoke on trent

but it has melted now! only a few bits in the corners! xxx

Snow ho ho. Not. Slide-y and slippery snow up our way. I'd drawn the short straw as nominated self for designated driver tonight. Local roads dead quiet, could take my time and delivered my passengers to their respective homes. Only one problem - snow hid the speed bumps in streets I didn't know so well! Going at 12 mph is ok but I caught the first one at 15. Oops!

Snell wind last night heralded today's weather. Its snowing.

aww nanna ,your so lucky ,wish we had a little more snow.

who knows ,its really cold and very windy today and winter is not over so

we could get more yet !!! xxxx

Its snowing in Barrhead.

Back to rain by nightfall.

Deleted as double post.

It's been snowing all morning in Barnsley. It's formed a thick slush on the roads and paths but is settling nicely elsewhere.

Woke up to a snowy covering. :)

Why does it always snow when my journey doesn't take me anywhere near a main road? Like today. X0

That's what happens when you live at the North Pole lol

ITs nor fair ,i want a,snow ball fight !!!!!

Hi Glynis - this wasnt the deep and crisp and even stuff for snowball fights and photo opportunities. This was the slippy slidey stuff that no-one else was fool enough to go out in.

PS yorkieiron. Ha ha re North Pole.

Snow totally vanished by morning. Cant believe the driving was so scary yesterday to the extent almost in tears by time I reached civilization.

PS daughter couldn't believe I'd been daft enough to do the straight over the hills route in yesterdays snow - got soundly told off.

Snow today in Stoke on Trent! Yey. Now it feels like Christmas.

Why do we never get the snow!! I live on the Welsh border & we never seem to get it. Can see it on the hills though. Maybe for the best as dropping off Christmas presents tomorrow.

we got some snow yesterday (liverpool) but i'm so happy it didn't stay - it's mostly gone now but i have been to see someone today and the pavement in her road is very scary icy, i nearly went flying!!!

Nothing whatsoever in mid somerset

I saw snow falling two days ago outside the hospital window in central london, but it didnt settle.

Dusting on the ground this morning mile down the road on journey o work absolutely nothing !

It's snowing!! Rather pathetically atm but who knows.

I feel I should be more excited, but I want to go to my class. Plus I can't go out and run round in the snow, like many others on here. I feel really sorry for kids with asthma when it snows - and other times, but it seems hard on them not to be able to enjoy it!

Snow in Watford now, not to bad but starting to lay on the roads. I hate it, hope it's gone soon as not looking forward to driving to work in it.

We have snow at last! At the moment only a small dusting... will see what the night brings...

After gloating that everyone has the snow we usually have, just heard weather forecaster say some may be coming our way after all. :(

snow on snaefell here in the isle of man, the police have closed the road for safety until the morning as it's a deristricted speed limit, hilly, unlit ""main"" road, which is now slippy. if you slip off you're likely to land with a thudd at the bottom of a good drop surrounded by nothing but sheep and bracken!
