I have never thought of this before, good question!

Mine was Frank Ifield - I remember you.

Know the song, never heard of him though.

Just listened to it on youtube...

Spandau Ballet True. Quite different to No 1 on my 18th as a family friend bought me the top single then - R Kelly Ignition Remix!

number 1 on the day i was born was, something in the air, by thunderclap newman. (never heard of them before)

Little Things Mean A Lot by Kitty Kallen. Never heard of her? Me neither!

Brian Adams - Everything I do.

That was the longest time a song ever stayed at Number 1, 16 weeks :)

Don't know which song but 'The Beetles' broke up two days after I was born!

Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless). Always thought it was a bit morbid.

Bryan Adams - Everything I do (My birthday is clearly too close to Vicky's :P)

Dang it. If ever anything marked me out as an old dear. .

The first British record sales chart didn't appear until 14th November 1952. So I miss it by two months.

First No. 1 was Al Martino with Here in My Heart. Prior to that the Top Twenty went by sheet music sales, in which case something called the Homing Waltz by Alma Cogan was number one for the month I was born.

Edit: pared down the posting.

Single - Jennifer Rush, The Power of Love

Album - George Benson, The Love Songs

Thought the 60s was the decade of love, not the 80s but obviously some loving going on that week in the charts ;)

Number 1 when I was born was The Beatles Hello Goodbye

Johnny Ray....'Just Walkin' in the Rain'. December 1956. Yes I'm 54!!!!!

Johnny Ray....'Just Walkin' in the Rain'. December 1956. Yes I'm 54!!!!!

Theme From S'Express - S'Express

I have no idea what this is so I youtube-d it

And I still have no idea!

Well, mine was Goodnight Girl by Wet Wet Wet :) Never even listened to the song :)

UK charts Jennifer Rush - The Power of Love

Just because the website I used also listed them:

US charts A-Ha - Take on me

Australian charts David Bowie & Mick Jagger - Dancing in the Street

Nimueh, your birthday must be the week before mine - I looked up US charts and have Whitney Houston Saving All My Love For You.

Another love one. Even given about 95% of all songs seem to be about love, it was clearly a loved-up week.
