My mother used to say...

A little bit of random silliness, but I thought it could be fun.

Remember all the things your mother/ grandmother used to say when you were a child to stop you doing things. Old wives tales and such. I was wondering which ones other people were told.

One I was always told was ""don't pick your nose, your brain will fall out!""

or ""If you sit to close to the telly, you will get square eyes.

When my mother saw me or my sister pulling a face she always said 'If the wind changes your face will stay like that'.

LOL! that one was popular with my mum as well when she saw me and my brother making faces at each other.

'What's the magic word?' (ie encouraging the use of please/thankyou). I still use it on my son (and husband) and sometimes they use it on me!!

Dont sing at the dinner table... U invite the devil in .... Meant u would have bad luck !!!

Another Scottish one ""I'll take my hand off your face!""........erm.....I wouldn't mind the hand being removed.....it would be the application at speed that I objected to!
