Flu Jab... what should I do?!

Hi..

My son is 14 months old and has severe asthma with attacks brought on by colds. We have just been offered the flu jab for him but were told to consider this carefully as it could be hard for him to take.

Do you think it'd be a good idea or not? I could really do with some advice!

Thanks! xx

The 'flu jab is safe for little ones from the age of six months.

Although it won't stop your son getting the usual coughs and colds of winter, if he does get poorly even with normal colds then I imagine 'flu would hit him rather hard.

No-one can make the decision for you, but I would read the information you have been given carefully, ask any questions that you may have of your doctor or practice nurse, and take your time to come to an informed decision.

My daughter is 3+ a bit... she has quiet bad asthma, on salbutamol becotide and singulaire. She is admitted about every 3-4 months with bad attacks. I asked the nurse at surgery today if she could have a flu jab, everyone else in the family has one as I have severe brittle asthma, the nurse asked how many admissions and how frequent she was admitted. When I told her she said she couldn't have it????

Im not sure if it's because she's not bad enough or too bad. Has anyone else got a child who had a flu jab?
