natural remedies

i would be interested to hear if any one has tried any natural medicines for asthma, ie mangosteen, ambrotose powder or any other alternative medicine. my son is 7 years old, he was diagnosed 5 years ago with asthma. the problems i have apart from the obvious is that he is very moody, and gets very angry which i am sure is associated with his inhalors. when his chest is bad i always have to get steriod tablets and anti-biotics. the inhalors he is on are Beclazone 50, Serevent and Ventolin.

I used to have a friend who used homeopathic remedies for her asthma. It meant she couldn't take anything pepperminty (toothpaste, chewing gum etc) but she swore it she hadn't needed her inhalers for the years since she'd been on the remedies.

Might be worth having a chat with a homeopath near you?

Before someone else beats me to it...

Please, PLEASE check any possible homeopathic remedy with your child's GP *before* starting to use it.

Some of them can interact with each other, and with prescription medication, and cause untold problems.

""Natural"" does not mean ""use without caution"". Aspirin is natural, after all.

HI there!

My daughter (13) is taking respiractin, which is a homeopathic remedy. She started taking it in december, and she hasn't been in the hospital since! She still takes all her other meds aswell, just incase, but I think that as she continues to get better we may start taking her off some of the meds. Hope this helps!

So, you've actually no real way of knowing whether it's the Respiractin or simply that the other drugs are now doing their job? We know that many people's asthma has up and down patches. The fact that your daughter has been out of hospital since December may just be a coincidence.

The only way you will know for sure is if your daughter's GP deems that she is well enough to have her other meds reduced. I assume that you're meaning your daughther's GP when you say ""we may start taking her off some of the meds,"" and that you yourself are not just going to make a arbitrary decision.

(doing his ""health and safety first"" bit)

well, what i am going to suggest is definately natural, but unfortunately it also happens to be illegal. cannabis has been proven to have very positive effects on people who were suffering from asthma. it is best not smoked, because that may obviously irritate the airways, but the ""lakolak"" leaves made into a tea, an infusion in hot water, work very well.

Hmmm, yes, highly illegal. Not sure about the ethics of this - but can you give me a reference for it being ""highly effective""? Where and when has this been shown to be the case?

From a slightly more legal angle: I've noticed a real difference since taking an Omega 3 supplement. My peak flow stabalised & my lungs felt so much less sensitive. As far as I know this is perfectly safe for anyone, but always worth running past the GP first to be on the safe side. I'm also taking a high dose (1000mg) of vitamin C, which has antihistamine properties. DO NOT use this one before talking to the doctor as it does react with several medicines, including some common asthma ones.

RESEARCH OF ASTHMA ERADICATIG MEDICINE

ASTHMA ERADICATION HAS BEEN A PERSISTENT ISSUE OF DISCUSSION AMONG THE MEDICAL EXPERTS ALL OVER THE GLOBE, FOR THE PREVIOUS SEVERAL DECADES WITH COGNIZABLE SUCCESS CHRONOLOGICALLY BUT THE NET EFFECT OF MEDICATION REMAINS INCONCLUSIVE AS PER OBSERVATION OF THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION:-

1. ASTHMA IS UNDER DIAGNOSED AND UNDER TREATED CREATING A SUBSTANTIAL BURDEN TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AND POSSIBLY RESTRICTING INDIVIDUALS ACTIVITIES FOR A LIFE TIME.

2.ASTHMA IS NOT JUST A OUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM FOR HIGH INCOME COUNTRIES;IT OCCURS IN ALL COUNTRIES REGARDLESS OF LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENTS.

3.ASTHMA DEATHS WILL INCREASE BY ALMOST 20% IN NEXT 10 YEARS ,IF URGENT ACTION IS NOT TAKEN.

IN VIEW OF SAID EXPRESSION ,I FEEL PRIVILEGED TO ASSURE ASTHMA ERADICATION BY A HOMOEO BIO REMEDY EVOLVED BY ME IN THE YEAR 1958,WHICH HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY MAKING RECORDS OF CURE IN ALL THE CHILDRENS TREATED BY REMEDY FOR FULL LIFE TIME,COMPLETLY STOPPING ASTHMA'S RECURRENCES WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF MEDICATION.
