Inogen One G5 Portable Concentrator

Morning everybody.

I'd really like to get in touch with anybody who is currently using an Inogen One G5 portable concentrator. I've been trying one out for a couple of weeks but can't seem to get the display to give me all the information I think it should i.e. remaining battery life as both a percentage and approximate time.

I've been in touch with the local supplier but the Inogen One is new to them so they've not been able to give me much help. I've checked online but although the maker's user instructions show the display giving both percentage battery remaining and time available it also states 'display may vary' so not much help!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Rattled, I also have the G5 as my NHS POC when you turn the concentrator on it should give you a battery percentage reading after about a minute, then after a few minutes it will give you the battery time remaining in hours and minutes, also when you increase or decrease the flow rate whilst in use the same thing applies.

Also what I have noticed, when you first get the battery time in hours and minutes showing the readings might be well out saying something like 16.40 hours remaining, this will correct itself after a few minutes to the proper time remaining.

If your concentrator is not showing any of these readings you should contact your oxygen supplier, because the machine might be faulty.

I hope I have been some help.

Ian.

Thanks Ian. That’s what I thought should be displayed. I wondered if I’d inadvertently turned the feature off but don’t see how. I’ll go back to supplier. Many thanks. Heather

hello Rattled sorry to hear of your problem with the Inogen one G5 I have this which I got from Dolby not sure where you got yours from I cant understand why the displays are not coming up as its extremely important to know when your battery is low would it be an idea to contact your respiratory team and see if they can advise you in any way who to contact, Also your supplier doesnt sound very helpful as they should be able to go back to the company who supplied them and get answers for you maybe try them again and put your foot down a little.good luck.

Thanks Wendywiffle. I thought maybe I’d done something wrong but don’t know what! Will go back to NHS supplier again and ask for more advice. Really appreciate your help. Heather

Hello. First post.

I have a G3 and when the display played up I "switched it off and on again" to reboot it. That means I removed the battery and waited a few minutes before replacing it. It might work.

Hello HissingSid, removed battery, left it for 20 minutes then restarted. No luck I'm afraid but thank you very much for trying to help. Much appreciated. Heather

I have read of forum members buying, or considering a portable concentrator but as someone who gets anxious over the slightest bit of technology I will stick with my cylinders when out and about, awkward as they may be. Good luck in getting yours sorted though.
