Hi and welcome Tracy. Congratulations on quitting the ciggies, no easy thing. It could be that your lungs are still clearing gunk but it might be as well to get a sample pot from your GP surgery and send a sample of the mucous off for testing to see if there is some infection present. Best wishes to you and I hope that you enjoy being part of our friendly group.

Hi, I'd insist a GP listen to your lungs to rule out - or in - an infection needing a good antibiotic especiallyif the mucus is yellow to green. If you dont want to use GP do you have a drop in clinic at your nearest hospital? A dose of pneumonia was diagnosed at one a few years ago for me, they were very proficient. Good luck, P

Hi Tracey and welcome to the site. Like CDPO16has said it may be your lungs clearing out all the gunk but it is worth giving a sputum sample pot from your GP so they can check it. Please let us know how you get on have a wonderful day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxxx 🌻🌻

Hi and welcome to this friendly, funny and informative forum. I second what previous posters have said. If it's yukky it cld be an infection. And congratulations on quitting the ciggies, it's very hard.

Maybe get checked for bronkiextasis this can only be done with a ct scan (i think) as this condition often produses exes mucous.

Also well done fir giving up smoking probably one of the hardest things to do.

Keeping your lungs clear of gunk is a good thing and can help prevent infections. Look on the asthma british lung web site for some tips on huffing the circle of breathing and lung clearance for some good tips on how to help yourself

Excellent that you’ve found this forum x such a good place to share your worries - just check again with your doctor - make sure you have COPD. It seems to be a bit of a knee jerk reaction to any chesty concerns. Congratulations giving up smoking - so positive 👍
