I fully appreciate your doctor is the one that has suggested it, but as per the link you’ve posted, there is currently no scientific evidence that aloe vera has meaningful benefit in preventing, managing, or treating any kind of respiratory condition. The closest to evidence we have is a single study in mice inhaling cigarette smoke which concluded it may be worth looking at further. I would also stress that the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center categorically do not advocate the use of aloe vera, they actually advise against ingesting aloe, as there are significant risks associated with it. Their current views on it are here:

mskcc.org/cancer-care/integ...

Healthline are usually pretty good, so I have no idea how or why they’ve got that information so wrong in the article, and if you click through to the Memorial Sloan link they provide, it takes you to the above page which basically says don’t do it. Cancer research UK also say much the same thing:

I feel fine 👍🏼 men in white coats constantly argue over stuff. At the end of the day how many old fashioned remadise work when they are not supposed to . 👍🏼😂😂

I know aloe vera good for sores and burns but i won't digest it as i can be a funny around stuff.I had yo double up on my antihistamines before i had the covid jabs.

If you consultant wants you to try it he/she should be doing it under close observations as in clinical trials. I wouldnt take unless under strict rules and very close observations if it not he/she will be putting your life in danger and will be struck off.

Im seem to be sensitive to things and on a lot of meds as well so i rather be safe then sorry and end up in icu with a anaphylaxis attack

in reply to Pipswhips

I've been in touch with the pulmonologist today and explained there's a lot of controversy over drinking aloe Vera drinks, she explained that it's not a proven issue one way or the other but going on others on the same meds as myself with similar conditions it's had some benefits and wouldn't have suggested trying it if it was likely to cause issues. I've been using it since she mentioned it and must admit it hasn't caused any issues. I'm obviously going to monitor it

I do appreciate your input I value all input so I thank you 👍🏼👍🏼

You are welcome it just that we don't want anything to happen that all. I have to be so carefull my allergy list is getting longer and longer but the immunologist told me im not allergic to anything and my rash i get with certain antibiotics is a case of hives it flares up when i take antibiotics and the infection clashes with it and he wanted my gp to give me them but double up o the antihistamines I'm on and prescribe another one as well but my gp reluctant to do it in case it cases an anaphylaxis attack which always just been as rash but the don't want to risk it with me especailly when they can't keep a very close eye on me probably leave it until in hospital then there's someone to keep close eye on me. That was only from blood test no prick tests.

At the end of the day doctors are not god's their human and can make mistakes. Sometimes the old fashioned remadise work quicker and more effectively. We've just been conditioned to accept everything from doctors without questioning. I always ask questions. I refused chemo and radiotherapy because I want to have a quality of life and unfortunately you kinda lose that for a possibility of it working with no real guarantee . It's each inderviduals choice.

I always question if i need the medication especially when it contains ibroprufen or asprin including the cream. I know i joke sometimes with gp saying if you want to kill me off just give me ibuprofen and ghat will get rid of me then we start laughing about it.

in reply to Pipswhips

It's good you can communicate well with your GP with me it's awkward because of the language barrier and I have to rely on my friend to translate but alot of the time I can understand what she is saying. My oncologist speaks perfect English so I'm ok there 😂👍🏼

We do have gps with accents which with my hearing problems im forever asking to repeat something or get a mumbler so i find it difficult as well sometimes. That why i try just to stick with same gp and asthma nurse but will see any one if bad but then i ask for the anp i know to give a ring back.

in reply to Pipswhips

It's hard when it's a completely different language and Greek women talk so fast you look at the mouth a thousand words come out and lips move once 😂😂😂👌

Pipswhips in reply to

Agree with you on that also if they are wearing mask iused to face them and try to read lips some i can some i can but impossible now adays as the medical staff still wearing masks.

in reply to Pipswhips

Totally agree with you they confuse you with big words and then disguise it wearing a mask 😂😂😂

Artemisinin, Amygdalin, Honokiol, AHCC (Active Hexos Corrulated Compound). These are all natural substanced based treatments that can boost your immune system. I have spinal cancer. I use these for my treatments along with what my Oncologist gives me. I have what I personally find more benefits from using these items then anything else. Not saying these are for sure going to fix your cancer. I am just telling you they work for me. I pray you will not give up for fighting for your health and life. I was non-ambulatory for a long time last year, several months due to my spine and having strokes. Today I walk without my walker around the house. None of these items cost a lot of money, they are all fairly affordable.

Well I did get to do much research but I've been drinking one small bottle of aloe Vera mango and it's not done me any harm and I can't actually see a pulmonologist saying try it if she knew it would do damage

Thepainterswife profile image

I agree with you Davey , there comes a point when you have to take responsibility for yourself and do what you instinctively feel is best for you .No medication is without risk and how often do we happily take prescribed stuff without a second thought because the Dr gave it to us and it actually does nothing to help . I’m not advocating ignoring the professionals just saying natural remedies can often be beneficial 😊 I hope the Aloe does help 🤞

in reply to Thepainterswife

I refused chemo and radiotherapy because of the side effects I've lost friends who had both with the same outcome, a friend here who was also a friend of my mother said she wishes now she hadn't had chemo because the quality of life has been destroyed the cancer asnt gone and now got to ride it out with more problems than before . So I try alternative stuff nothing ventured nothing gained but I am not putting myself at risk .👍🏼 Thanks for supporting that 👍🏼👍🏼

My mum died of cancer aged 67 and my sister aged 52 , both had chemo after the diagnosis and lived for less than twelve months - twelve months with no quality of life whatsoever. My sister in particular regretted having the treatment in fact she stopped it half way through but the damage was already done - the drugs were so aggressive, they literally destroyed her body. Of course thousands of people benefit from and are cured of cancer every day by conventional drugs and treatments , I just think that everyone needing any treatment should give very careful consideration to what they are actually putting into their body and not be panicked into aggressive conventional treatment without weighing up all the options. I personally would always opt for a natural remedy , but then I’ve never had a life threatening condition- it must be very difficult in those circumstances to trust your own intuition . If the Aloe does you no good ( and it may well do you a lot of good ) I really can’t see it doing any harm , in your shoes I’d be on it 👍

in reply to Thepainterswife

I've lost both my grandparents to cancer my mother and uncle the same and I have small cell lung cancer it's spreading to my kidneys aswell and have a small tumor elsewhere I'm living each day as it comes , DWP asked for a life expectancy for me to go on state pension my oncologist and pulmonologist both said they are not god's on paper I have 12/18 months , can't fly back to UK and there's no palitive care package here because the Greeks families deal with the care . I'm alone and stranded but hey ho I'm still ticking and try to put a smile on faces it's my nature. 👍🏼😃

Thepainterswife in reply to

Just keep on doing what you’re doing , stay positive and ignore what’s on paper ! 😊

in reply to Thepainterswife

Problem is I know my health is deteriating and pretty quickly keep hitting problem after problem, since Xmas eight bouts of pneumonia a constant coughing and losing bad blood the list gets bigger every couple of months 👍🏼😃

Thepainterswife profile image
Thepainterswife in reply to

It must all be very difficult for you , I’m not sure I could be as strong and cheerful as you appear to be in the same circumstances. I hope your positivity keeps you going and your list gets a little shorter 🤞

in reply to Thepainterswife

If you want me to be totally honest. I wear a mask to hide how I feel I don't want pity I could tell you the real feeling but it's scary even to me so I put on the front I'm cheerful and happy to hide the hurt inside . 🤫👍🏼😂

I'll give anything a try , old fashioned remadise do have a tendency to work

Just err on the side of caution Dave. We read things that are supposed to help then try them out not really knowing what other side effects there could be, although your doctor should know this. Please be careful any sickness or diarrhoea stop taking and go back to your doctor x

in reply to Izb1

Oh I will do but been having aloe Vera mango drink for a while and not noticed any problems as yet . But obviously if I did I would stop drinking it but also drink LTRs of water 😂👍🏼

If only it were so simple!!

in reply to Lol1944

I know but if it helps why not try it?? We trust in what the doctors give us without a second glance , so why shouldn't an option come from nature nothing ventured nothing gained

I take a tot daily to help the digestion. Start to feel it when I don't take it on holiday, after about 6 days.

in reply to Ergendl

So you use it for a different reason I had been told it covers a few conditions including acid reflux
