I used to stay there many years ago

in reply to CarolMcl

It shows πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ mind you I've been here six years I'm ok to a certain degree but I don't know much Greek still learning πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

CarolMcl profile image

It's a difficult language to learn, especially with all the local dialects

Yes, they are very friendly 😁

in reply to CarolMcl

In the UK you can live nextdoor to someone for years and maybe never talk here you walk down the street and everyone talks to you πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Davegt profile image

But with your knowledge of the language you don't know what they are on about. Lol Just nod yer head like a puppet. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

in reply to Davegt

I know the basics good morning afternoon evening night I know what food stuffs are like milk sugar bread cheese . I'm not totally in secure with the language, and if I don't understand I say anglica they understand that I'm English.

in reply to CarolMcl

You can have pasticheo or musaka in all areas and each one is slightly different each island uses different herbs

CarolMcl profile image

Pastitsio and softito are my 2 favourite dishes. In fact, I just love Greek food

in reply to CarolMcl

I love my lentil soup mmm but love seftia rabbit sausage. Healthy food but soon be Santa Maria in August so lots of street food.

in reply to CarolMcl

The culture the people and especially the food are all you need . I have fresh bread straight out the oven every morning from just at the bottom of my road it's fantastic

CarolMcl profile image
CarolMcl in reply to

Oh yes. I still eat feta regularly. On Sunday I made tzatziki and had it with warm pitta, feta and olives, yummy

in reply to CarolMcl

Love tzatziki I also love my pink sauce πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ so many nice things to eat . Real tomato not like the tasteless ones in the UK how they used to taste years ago

in reply to CarolMcl

Can't beat the feta made in your village though completely fresh

in reply to CarolMcl

At the end of the day we are all just numbers to them , we pay into the system and while we are not using the cash in our pension pots that's good for the dwp this is part of the increase in pension age 😹 it's a law that needs to be changed so that terminal illness patients get to enjoy the time they have.

CarolMcl profile image
CarolMcl in reply to

I agree, the whole system needs to change but unfortunately I can't see it happening. Davie, I'll need to head, got a hospital appointment at 09.30 and parking is awful. I hope you have a good day 🌞

Lovely. Last Monday & Tuesday was far too hot too cook I lived on salads

I've been hospitalised yet again for the 6th time because if my oxygen levels dropping dangerously

in reply to Sara_2611

I know how you feel my O2 levels on a good day are around 55 and the heat being so intense is causing so much problems.

Sara_2611 profile image
Sara_2611 in reply to

Wow 55on a good day!? For me because of the Interstitial Lung Disease 55 is dangerous & I have to go to hospial urgently. My baseline is 82-94 or higher

I'm a bit annoyed this episode happened on 26th July because it was the day I was supposed to go to South Manchester to the specialised lung clinic there

in reply to Sara_2611

Sorry either my fingers are too fat or predict text again not 55 75 I hate using my phone for typing πŸ˜‚ , I remember beginning of last year I had a bad bout of hypoxia and was in and out of hospital several times and it does so much damage , I only have use of my right lung my left is all but collapsed, I spend so much time on my machine taking meds it drives me potty but I keep smiling and each day I wake up is another day to enjoy . Or in my case at the moment cook because it is hot . Not good it fell on an important day for you so annoying πŸ‘πŸΌ keep your chin up and keep fighting take care keep safe

Sara_2611 profile image
Sara_2611 in reply to

Cheers one of my specialist "s doctors came round today & one of the things she talked about ( with mum present as she was visiting) saying if they can't wean me off the oxygen then if it comes to me being sent home with one I have to have another " gas test" (IE arterial injection) first. As soon as she said that I told her I'd already had that done when I came in Tuesday morning & didn't want to do it again given the results said it was ok & I saw no reason to repeat it

And then she said that it was a necessary thing to have done as it is a prescribed thing

I suspect she saw my email to her colleague expressing strongly that I wasn't prepared to repeat it & to not enter discussion about being reconvinced & she has responded by telling her to tell me on her visit to me that without me having this gas test then I can't have the home oxygen

So against my better judgement ( I might describe it as against my will) but better judgement is better I've resigned myself to agreeing to it

If that's if it comes to me having this.

Deep down I'm hoping that I can be weaned off it so I can go home from whatever ward I'm on & remake my appointment at the clinic urgently in South Manchester about Ninetab suitability

Take care my friend

in reply to Sara_2611

I hope you get the help you obviously need, it's not nice when it's your lungs and breathing !! I started with COPD but being without any prescribed medication for three years it escalated I have small cell c and in a foreign country which I can't leave because of my condition . I'm making the best I can. Listen to your consultant and specialists their trained to help you the best they can . My thoughts are with you take care keep your chin up πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I've been cooking since small taught by my gran , always wanted to be a chef but couldn't afford to go college, but people like my cooking especially my cakes and pies πŸ˜‚ I just love cooking. Keeps my mind active and focused πŸ‘πŸΌ

Qr83k_-Jd profile image
Qr83k_-Jd in reply to

Gosh your gran was a fantastic person showing the ins and out of cooking. I could only cook for the family and that was things like chips, fishmongers, sausages and pies bought from a shop. We were parents and 6 children and there wasn't much money available so we ate a lot of junk food. Although we did have mince and tatties and stews. I used to cook meals for my friend and that was mostly stews and things like that but I lost my confidence with cooking and lived on ready meals up until last year. Then I developed anorexia. I have been trying much more healthy food bug I feel unable to cook meat because it just terrifies me. I agree with you last week especially was too hot out grass round here is all brown what is it like where you live. I do like the sound of your gran I was very close to my maternal gran. I miss her now she's not around but she passed away in 1979 but she never encouraged us too cook. I wish I could cook it must be very satisfying when other people enjoy your food. Such a shame you were unable to become a chef. You most probably are just as good.

in reply to Qr83k_-Jd

Living in Greece is ok but like now extreamly hot . Yes it's better to learn your cooking skills from a grandparent lots of family secret recipes πŸ˜‚ you should start cooking your confidence will come you just have to try . One step at a time .
