My gardening experiments

Having sort out found this photo from few years ago. I like fuchsias, most are trailing, and I always take cuttings and grow them on. This time I took off all the side shouts, was curious how tall could grow. Was amazed how tall this red one grew, variety is Satellite. Can’t remember name of shorter pink one. Don’t have time to do as much now with having to Nebulise etc. but photos give happy memories. The tall ones in foreground are hardy varieties, still doing well.

A lovely photo Jean, and fuchsias are my favourite. We have a big one near our back door and I have to keep cutting it back to get in and out. It’s beautiful though. Xxx

That must be a good hardy variety, long may it give you pleasure even when have to cut back. Guess it’s in sheltered spot. Best regards, Jean.xxx

I admire your standard fuchsias- they cost a bomb to buy. I'm tempted by the enormous trailing one you see in catalogues, but find it easier to stick to hardy ones. Good luck with your gardening in between nebulising. It must be most satisfying to have all those lovely fuchsias around. xxx

Thanks, it’s mostly hardy ones now, have cuttings off others, in small pots, too late now to plant them out this year! Jean xxx

Wonderful. Very impressive. Not sure our climate up here would work for them. I have a few fuchsias in out tubs but they are timid wee things.

Thank you for a lovely picture.

My goodness, that red one was almost of tree-like proportions! I had no idea that fuschias could grow so tall! A lovely photo, thank you for sharing😊 x

My mum love fuchsias too, and roses. A real challenge in a chalky alkali soil, but she managed it.

They look lovely I have 2 in pots that almost died last year when I went on holiday and my son forgot to water them and we had a heat wave managed to save them but they are very small hopefully will recover.

That’s shame, hope they continue recovery. I prefer hardy ones now, red very tall ones were not hardy and despite putting in summerhouse, in picture, over couple of winter they didn’t survive. Jean x

Yes thanks always had photos printed for my mother who lived until nearly 112, and decided to continue few years after her death, as easier to show people etc. Jean x
