HOSPITALISED FOR THE 5TH TIME

Hi everyone

I'm back in hospital for the 5th time Oxygen levels went dangerously low to 44 at home at 6am yesterdauy

I managed to eat brekky & take my morning tabs before being carted off by my dad

Usual procedures happened when i got there like wait in reception to get signed in have a cannula put in wait for ages in A E for hours & hours til finally i was taken to assessment ward which I like there cos it's a room on my own which I prefer cos I'm clinically vulnerable. Unfortunatly it's only a short stay until they move me into a main ward with people in the same situation as me

Hope you’re feeling much better soon and your stay is a short one. Do they know why you keep getting these episodes of such low oxygen levels? Are there any treatments that could prevent or lessen the episodes? It must be very stressful not knowing when this might occur, and am sure stress won’t help the situation.

I think it's just the nature of my Interstitial Lung Disease one of the doctors told me when she came to see me while I'm in assessment unit that I might have a viral infection as opposed to a bacterial one which is strange because when I was in A & E everyone who was listening to my chest never mentioned it but one referred to some bibasery crackles but I don't think they're the cause of it. I'm being assessed for oxygen at home I failed on this occasion to keep the time line in between episodes a long one. It was either may or June when I didn't have one at all I can't remember

Cheers I'm in ward D6. It's not adsement unit or respiratory. I don't know what it is I'm 100% sure it's not a covid ward

There's a nice girl next to me called Jen

There was a lot of heavy footsteps thundering round the corridors in the ward so don't know if there was an emergency in the night or what

So sorry you’re back in hospital, hope they sort you out well so you can get home, particularly as you’re highly vulnerable and in general ward. Best wishes, Jean xxx

Hope you have a positive experience in hospital and hope as others have said they can give some clearer insight into sats dropping and maybe manage it better for you and ease your stress and anxiety around the next episode.

Cheers Karen I wish it would all go forever but unfortunately it's one of those conditions that once you're diagnosed it's forever & only to be managed best you can

I will do my very best

Much obliged

Absolutely I ll do my very best I'm getting regular injections in my stomach. Thankfully I have such a thick spare tyre of fat around me I pinch a very large portion of it to lessen pain lol Hopefully when they see fit to gradually reduce my oxygen & done whatever scans are required & if they are satisfied I can breathe on my own sometime down the line hopefully I can go home

Hi. Sara I hope that you are able to manage this better when your home oxygen is assessed and in place. It will be good to feel more in control of what is happening and hopefully stay out of hospital. Grace

Hi Sara, sorry for your problems. I have several respiratory problems, as I understand it, anything under 88% is very urgent and means a trip to A+E. Someone with ILD, with a reading of 67% would be blue and approaching death. If I get a reading below 89%, for several days, I know that I am in serious trouble and need to be seen urgently. Or is this a different measure? I am just worried that someone with a reading of 87% sats may think they are OK if they see yours at 44%. See this link; onhealth.com/content/1/norm...

I do hope you get better soon, and return home, good luck.

Och, dear love you…. I do hope they reach a definite diagnosis and can treat it. All the best, honey. 😊 🍀 💕

Thanks It's what is known as Interstitial Lung disease which is like a scarring of tissue (I think) "

This makes me short of breath & because oxygen isn't getting anywhere near my heart to pumb round my body it's making my levels drop dangerously

At least this time I didn't faint like last time
