I live in the East Riding near Hull. The thing is I think I might have some form of autism and was considering seeing my G.P. after I took two lots of online tests and came out with scores between 24 - 25. Not sure how to approach the subject with my wife, with her thinking I'm been paranoid. I watched Are You Autistic on T.V. the other night and things started ticking boxes for me from my childhood etc. I am also researching autism, for a fictional novel I am writing, and things have made me wonder if I am, the more I research the subject.

GP is a good start as they can refer you onwards

Well how do you normally speak to your wife?
It's no different to more or less anything else it's only as awkward as you want to make it.
As oscarbravo said, talk to her as you would about anything really, that is if you want to tell her you’re getting tested
You could go talk with the GP & see when they refer you - waiting times can be a few years though so if you are interested in getting a diagnosis either way then it’s best to get a ball rolling sooner then later
Can I ask though what were those scores out of as I’ve seen ones which say <29 indicates not
Thank you for your reply, yes I still think I need to be tested. I will discuss it with my wife before I see my G.P. as we are always at our doctor's together, as I am her carer, so if I went on my own, she would only ask why? I am aware that tests and results can take a few years to come through, but I am willing to wait if I am referred. I didn't know I was actually dyslexic until I was in my early thirties. I also have dyscalculia, and numerous medical issues, including Chronic genetic I.B.S. and a nerve disorder.
Hi KaidenGDtone, I was lucky enough to see a nurse practitioner that was really good and took me seriously when I said I thought I was on the Autistic Spectrum, she referred me to a place that ended up diagnosing me, but it has now changed, you need to see your GP and discuss your concerns and they should point you in the right direction, they will usually only give a diagnosis these days if it really affects your life on a dad to day basis, hope this helps, regards NanaT.
