Arrested development?

Hi..I'm new.

I've got so many anxiety over this.

I've not been diagnosed with AS but I can relate to so much.

Q does anyone share this same feeling of being still an adolescent trapped in an adult body? Like you've never grown up?

Thanks

Yes, I feel that. I was thrown into the adult world, clueless and naive. I have learnt a lot since but still feel young and not capable of coping with society. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Aspergers. I don't know any one with it.

Thanks, now I don't feel so isolated. My gut feeling is right. Thing is, I don't have med coverage to find a licensed psychologist to get that diagnosis.

May I ask, how long did it take to get the diagnosis?

Does anyone have issues with sound like feeling sound like it vibrates through your body cause you want run avoid people talking have issue with people being around does anyone have issue with retaining what they study. Yes, I know the feeling, I see the "grown up" world as something almost alien, at 61 years I'm the oldest kid on town lol. I call it (society that is) the abomination, there is very little if anything I really want to do with "it". Others comment how youthful I look, that's one of the theories about AS an arrested development, I have often tried to fathom when the failure to develop occurred, my theory is when we realise we are actually going to die something resists the idea, as though by not accepting death it wont happen, naïve for sure I know, but its just a theory, All the best.

I became sick at the age of 4 or 5. High fevers. Convulsions. I saw hallucinations; a statue of an eagle over the fireplace mantle became alive and was flying toward me with it's claws. I can recall it to this day at 55 yrs. Also, to this day, I automatically DEFEND myself when I encounter a bird flying toward me (a knee jerk reaction)

I suspect that it was here. Here is where (very possibly) a part of my brain was damaged

I think my 22 year old son is having the same issue. I pray with therapy he will grow to independently adulting.

Best of luck! Find a therapist that can help.

Definitely. I was diagnosed last year at 58. I feel like I just woke up from a coma and life has passed me by, no kids divorced twice. Still obsessing over the same hobbies as when I was 14, and still dealing with childhood issues as if I was still 11.
