More postmenopausal bleeding

In November I was referred for postmenopausal bleeding. They did a vaginal ultrasound, examination, blood tests and biopsy. They said the wall of my womb was thickened, but smooth and thought that I'd just had one last period. They found an ovarian cyst, but said that they normally went on their own, so not to worry and they'd check it had gone in 3 months time. I didn't get the biopsy result, but assumed no news was good news. Mid December I had another bleed. Nothing much. I thought it must just be another period. Two weeks later and I'm bleeding again, a bit more, but still nothing much. Should I just wait for the 3 month appointment or should I go back to the doctor? Surely if they found nothing only 6 weeks ago, there'll still be nothing now?

Hi there,

Thank you for your message. It's good that when you had your first menopausal bleed you went to the doctor and were referred for a scan and tests. You're quite right that it is very unlikely for something more serious to develop from the time of our first appointment and the 12 week check-up, although we do always advise to report any abnormal vaginal bleeding.

Thank you. I am having a hysteroscopy on Friday. I'm nervous that it will be painful, but hoping that it will provide an answer.
