Hysterectomy

Hi after having problems for a long time my gynaecologist has told me my only option now is a full hysterectomy I’m booked in at the end of September for a LAVH, I have been told I should only be in hospital for the night and then discharged to rest at home.

My job involves a lot of heavy lifting and on my feet all day with no opatunity to sit down how long is the normal time to stay off work as some are saying I will be fine in 4 weeks.

Regards

Hi there,

Following a LAVH, a normal amount of activity can resume after around 4-6 weeks, if you're feeling well enough. As you have a physically demanding and busy job, 8 weeks is probably a better time frame.

Wishing you all the best with your surgery.

Just to let you know I had my LAVH on Thursday we’re they also found a lot of endrometriosis basically covering my left ovary and my bowel the surgeon has cut it all away as well as a full hysterectomy he actually asked me if I had been in pain ! As it was a scale 3-4 I have been getting different sorts of treatments over the last 13 years but they have never once mentioned endometriosis! I am now at home recuperating even though I’m in pain I instantly feel better in my self I’m awaiting the affects of menopause but strangely my phriosis has started to fade !

Thanks for your help with my questions

Regards
