Womb cancer diagnosis

Hi there, I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 2 womb cancer. I’m early 40s, zero symptoms, not overweight and not peri-menopausal. In fact, I’ve never had a gynae problem in my life. Complete shock is an understatement.

My surgery is in three weeks time and I’m struggling with the torrent of emotions I’m going through. Has anyone else out there had a similar experience as I’ve been told it’s rare to have this cancer at my age.

Hi there,

We're so sorry that you've received this news, and it's absolutely normal to have a lot of questions, emotions and confusion, particularly if diagnosed with a cancer that doesn't seem normal or common within your age group. You're right in that cancer does normally affect women older than yourself, but unfortunately a lot of women aren't in the 'majority' and have to deal with this when they are younger than expected. There is a brilliant website called Womb Cancer Support UK, who also have a Facebook group. If you get in touch with them, you can chat to lots of women who have had a similar experience.
