Lots of symptoms?

Hi! I've taken to the Internet due to lack of faith in my doctors from a good while ago - now I just feel like I don't want to be a nuisance which is how they made me feel.

Since I was about 16, I have had terrible pains in my mid to lower back which usually appears in the morn after I've drank fluids before bed but haven't urinated. Which makes me always think it's my kidneys. It's painful and only goes away when I get up, urinate and keep moving.

I got told that "everyone wakes up with aches and pains" and that was that, I haven't had the courage to go back since. Forgive me, but I'd like to think it wasn't normal for a 22 year old active woman - to wake with aches and pains of this nature.

I've since started worrying about further symptoms - unusual bleeding and never knowing what my period is doing, deep achey pains in my left and right groins, a stiff ache in my left hip, I've lost a lot of weight (maybe 3/4 stone). I have a very healthy diet but I am frequently either blocked up or have stools that seem to always float. No matter how many flushes?!

I am booking for an STI test in the morning as I recently learnt my previous partner wasn't faithful and I am querying whether this is the cause.

However I am also worried as my aunty experienced cervical cancer when she was my ages. Does anyone know whether it could be hereditary?

Or any information for me that could help!!?!!

Hi there,

Thank you for your message. We're really sorry to hear that you are feeling so frustrated and unwell. You're quite right, it isn't ok for a young woman of 22 to be feeling like this all the time!

The short answer to your post and main question about cervical cancer, is no, it is not hereditary. Most cervical cancers are caused by HPV, a skin virus. So your Aunt having cervical cancer doesn't make any difference to your likelihood of developing the same disease.

Obviously you mention many more things in your post, so would you like to speak to our Specialist Nurse Tracie? If so, please email nurse@eveappeal.org.uk and include your phone number if you'd like her to call you.

Best Wishes,

Team Eve
