I'm new here. Was diagnosed with cancer of the vulva 7.07 .17 and presently waiting results of additional biopsies to discover extent of the cancer and decide what treatment is required. I don't know anyone who has had cancer of the vulva and neither do any of my friends or family so would like to make contact with others who do .

I had a Basal cell carcinoma removed in 1997. No problems in that area since. Good luck.
Hi Heather, I was diagnosed in February 2017. Had a cancer lesion cut out of my perineum in September 2016. Travelled to groin lymph nodes, and diagnosed as vulva/vagina carcinoma, in February 2017. Having chemo and radiotherapy at the moment. I am happy to keep in touch, if you like. I am in Glasgow, Scotland.
I live in Rochdale . Would be happy to stay in touch especially as I know radiotherapy is possibly an option for my treatment

Heather lovely to hear from you. Radiotherapy is easy for me. I meet a few people, having similar treatment, who have cervical cancer. I have surprised myself how I have coped. If cistiplatin chemo drip, you will most likely not lose your hair, may shed a little as chemo goes on. I am very lucky about that, as my hair is my youth.

Had my results. Was hoping for the best and prepared for the worst and news was somewhere in the middle. The area identified as cancerous at first biopsy is deep enough to require investigation of the lymph nodes but of the other three biopsies taken two were fine and one was precancerous VIN. The outcome is that I will have a small area of my labia excised with surrounding healthy tissue and the VIN which is on my clitoral hood removed. However I am able to have sentinel node surgery rather than all my lymph nodes removed which is a relief as It drastically reduces the chance of developing lymphodema post operatively. Two weeks after surgery the surgeon should be able to tell me if any other cancer cells were found and whether I need any further treatment. Feeling hopeful. Presently my cancer is at stage 1b and will only change to stage 3 if cancer found in lymph nodes at which point I will require additional surgery to remove all lymph nodes in my groin at least on side of cancer. As my cancer has developed as result of having lichen sclerosis I will have continued management and follow up by the gynae team which hopefully will pre empt the future.
