Cin 2&3 after second lletz procedure in a year!

Hi

I'm new to all of this and just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation as me.

I went for my normal smear a year ago and my results came back abnormal with high grade severe dyskaryosis. I had a lletz procedure done 4 weeks later at my local hospital. The results from this lletz showed cin 1&2 but had clear margins and a good sample size. I then went for my follow up smear and got the same result as my first smear. I had another lletz procedure done within 2 weeks. I have just had my results back today and I now have cin 2&3.

I am concerned about my results getting worse over the year and at the speed they are changing considering my first lletz had clear margins.

I have 2 children already and wasn't really planning on having anymore but I am concerned about the effect the lletz treatment is having on my cervix and what happens if my next smear comes back abnormal.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation and have any more information about why the cells are changing so quickly?

Thanks

Hi again Becky,

It's really good that your being monitored by the hospital team. You're asking why the cervix cells are changing over the course of several months, and the 'condition' of them is appearing worse. Our bodies are great - in most cases we recognise cell changes and deal with them. Sometimes with cervix changes, they get to the CIN3 before the body can challenge and get rid of the bad cells, which is why your hospital team are keeping a close eye on you. If your body is not managing to clear up these changes on its own, then the team will offer you treatment. Your situation is understandably worrying, but we promise you it's not uncommon.

If you'd like to talk again after your next appointment, or if you have any other questions for us now, please do call 0808 802 0019 or email nurse@eveappeal.org.uk.

Best Wishes,

Team Eve.

Hi Becky, I know this is an old post and hopefully you're all clear now with no further treatment needed. I was diagnosed with micro invasive cervical cancer in November 2018, I was given a LLetz 1 week later followed by clear margins in situ. I had a 3 monthly follow up and it was back again, I was given a second lletz immediately, then again 3 months later back again!! 3rd lletz and deep endo-cervical Cutterage, unfortunately the last results have shown it's spread to my lower uterus as 90% of my cervix has already been removed, so I have no choice but to have a hysterectomy, LLetz can be performed until there's pretty much no cervix left to remove.... Although after 2 they would normally recommend the hysterectomy. Due to me having Osteoporosis they have tried to refrain from the hysterectomy with bilateral Salpingo-Oopherectomy but there's no way around it now. But I endured 3 lletz first and a cone biopsy! Sadly I ended up with 2 very severe infections following 2 of the LLetz which caused P. I. D ddamaging my tubes for life so the total hysterectomy really was the best option for me. And all this is 10 months... I hope things have improved for you now x
