Hi all got letter week ago afta missing smear for last 4 years i finally had a smear an had discarge all swabs were negative but then gets letter which scared me with saying i have abdormal cells nothing to worry but now they getting me in within two weeks i got letter day afta to have a colopsy i think its spelt right but i have is noone to talk who relates just seeing it say cancer an thinking nothing but that sentence an now having dark discharge they do just put blunt the things wat make it in possible to get away ore not think about has anyone had this an cud advise me wat happens plz

Thank you very much for your message. We are very sorry to hear that you are feeling worried about this.

Everybody is different, so some ladies have more discharge or a bit of blood in their discharge after having a smear test or examination in your vagina.

If the letter after a smear test tells the lady she has abnormal cells, then she is always sent for a colposcopy, and the normal waiting time for this is about 2 weeks, which is all completely normal practice, so please don't think that your doctor is rushing you in or it is an emergency.

A colposcopy is a fairly quick process, which allows the doctor to see inside of you a bit more clearly, with something like a magnifying glass.
