Waiting results of Colposcopy

Hi I have been waiting for the results of a biopsy and Colposcopy for over 3 weeks. The actual test was quite traumatic as the consultant did a "deeper than usual biopsy" then decided on a Loop Diathermy. I am still bleeding even though I have had some pills from the GP that I have been taking for a week to stop the bleeding. I called the nurse today and she has told me the doctors are meeting this afternoon to discuss the next step. I am worried this is something more than I expected. I am nearly 56 and my periods have only just stopped about 3 months so I do know I am in the menopause. I have been to the doctor a few times about bleeding after sex but it was dismissed as menopausal.Has anyone else had this please?

Hello,

We are sorry to hear about your traumatic time. It's not unusual to bleed after this sort of procedure, but if you are still bleeding and the medication your GP has given you is not helping we suggest you should make an appointment to see him/ her to get checked out.

So the meeting the nurse described to talk about your biopsy is normal practice , you should receive an appointment or letter following this to let you know the outcome.

Can we suggest when you call the colposcopy department and ask when / how you will get your results?

Do give us a call at Ask Eve on 0808 802 0019 or email us at nurse@eveappeal.org.uk if you want to talk in confidence.

Best Wishes,

The Eve Team
