Endometrial hyperplasia with complex atypia

Hi, I have been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia with complex atypia at 49 and am being treated with provera. Having researched this a little it seems that without atypia this is a suitable treatment but that with atypia a hysterectomy is recommended. Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Hi ss467.

Thank you for getting in touch with Ask Eve.

So the RCOG (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) guidelines do suggest that a hysterectomy should be considered for hyperplasia with atypia ..... the description of "complex" is not used so often these days , and the atypia is described in more detail . It would be an idea to ask your treating team if they could explain more to you to reassure you in light of your findings.

If you would like to speak to our Ask Eve Nurse, please feel free to phone us on 0808 802 0019 or email on nurse@eveappeal.org.uk

Wishing you well,
