hello

To post hip op folk I'm feeling rather slow in getting my mobility without crutches to support, and it concerns me as you read It happening earlier on and I'm worried I haven't done the right exercise etc as I haven't had supportive physio I now realise

I'm fine on one crutch but putting full weight through without it is uncomfortable

Has anybody had this please and howmhave you gone on, I keep reading about a 12 week window which is panicking me a bit

Xxx

Are you still having Physio ? If not could you find out about self referral and book yourself in for more if you feel you need it. My physio did say that all patients are very different in how long they need the support from their crutch or stick but as I have no medical training I think best you speak to another physio if possible.

thanks. Well I got to see one twice. Disappointed as he got me concerned about scar actually asking me what I thought of it and telling me to massage etc and hiss exercise of side leg lifting I just can't do! Just that he said and the standing/sitting. Perhaps I just exspect too much?

If you are worried you could contact either gp or the surgeons secretary who may be able to get you another appointment.

I don’t think I did enough movement overall as I was still trying to protect the hip. I am going on the list for the other hip to be replaced and will def try to move move. I found I couldn’t do some exercises but I still tried every day and eventually I could do them. Hopefully you will find that as the weeks go by you will go from strength to strength.

Thankyou Lizzie. Has your other hip become painful since the op

Other hip was a little painful before but the more I have been able to do with the replaced hip the worse it has become. Going for a mri scan on Thursday but have to wait until august 29 for appointment for the results. However with the waiting lists at the moment august appointment isn’t to bad.

If you're that concerned contact your GP. In our area it's a 15 week recovery programme and it doesn't end there. Those exercises are good to carry forward . Take each day as it comes as we are all different recovery wise

sounds a good plan sadly it's not happening here. Which exercises are you referring to

hi, I’m 14 weeks post op. I have had a steel rod through marrow of my femur.I fell out of bed and made a substantial mess of it. Think there must have been bone thinning weakness there from childhood when I had TB hip bone.

I’m on one crutch now, but some days pain is very bad, so don’t do much at all,

I haven’t had physio for this from professionals, just given what I need to do daily on A4sheets.

The rod is secured to hip with large screw, and two in knee joint. I’m told 6/9 months recovery, it’s just a long haul

I do hope you come through this soon and back to your normal self.good luck

X
