Injections for pain

Well finally I might be getting some pain relief injections for my OA in my knees....Doc wants an X ray after 5 long painful years and all the pain meds I can stomach now making me ill!

He even mentioned replacement for one knee due to a RTA many years which may cause issues with injections, we shall see.

There isnt really any treatment for OA my rheumi suggested GP prescribe Butrans patches up to 20mcgs and referredme back to GP.

It took me years for GP to finally refer me to rheumi.

Rheumi initially did cortisone jabs in both ankles and years ago i had one in knee and that was that.

Id had xrays and ultrasounds done on ankles/feet/knees.

OA is down to wear and tear ie getting older

In 2010 I had knee pain so bad my DR at the time (no longer!) recommended three-shots of some thick fluid into my knee to be taken a week apart, cost without insurance was $1,800, and with my insurance $180 out of pocket. The DR sent in his backup person who I sear must have been someone he grabbed off the street to do the injection. The needle injected into my knee was so thick and long it could be used for horses or elephants. I'm not a salior but I did used every word in a sailor's vocabulary to express the pain I was going through during the injection. Took me 15 minutes before I could stand and hobble out of the office muttering to all people waiting what just happened and they should run for the hills. I never went back but did tell the DR he could give my remaining shots to anyone without insurance and brave enought to take them.

Good news: After some research, I went out and bought a pair of MBT walking shoes and the pain subsided. I walk 3-5 miles four times a week.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with pseudogout in that same knee so the shot was useless, as was that previous DR because there's no cure for pseudogout.
