It’s a great idea and in most states if they are giving narcotics it is a must. My doctor doesn’t think there should be a war on Opioids Thank goodness! Without the good meds , I can’t barely function.

Agreed; very stupid policy. Even though the FDA has "walked back " their original position to some extent, opioids have always been the "gold standard" of moderate to severe pain management. I think it is a form of "cruel and unusual" punishment to tie doctor's hands and have the goverment interfering in the doctor-pt. relationship.

But the genie is out of the bottle, and doctors and pharmacists are terrified of losing their licenses or being disciplined. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail at some point in the reasoning of policy makers; this policy makes the mafia very happy and the black market in prescription opiates is thriving.

I read recently that due to the FDA 's draconian regulations, the manufacturing of opiates has been cut way back and there is insufficient supply for hospice patients! I think older physicians are more likely to challenge the new regs and keep on pescribing, but younger doctors are being indoctrinated in the wrong direction.
