Fertility issues

Hello - I’ve got psoriatic arthritis and pernicious anemia (both autoimmune) and potentially a thyroid issue (thyroid function tests normal but a recent ultrasound showed my thyroid to be slightly larger than normal indicating infection or either over/underactive) I am just waiting to see the consultant again.

Anyway - I have a 6 year old son already and have put off having another whilst sorting my health out. I’m hoping that in the new year to be able to start trying for baby number 2, but have done loads of research and it appears that autoimmune diseases can affect fertility.

Has anyone/anyone’s partner managed to get pregnant and had a successful pregnancy with an autoimmune disease? There aren’t many success stories online, but I guess that’s because people only post when there are issues and rarely post success stories. Hoping for some positive responses here.

I seem to be in the same situation as you. I have a almost 6 year old (never had luck with #2) and I have RA and now autoimmune thyroid issues. Tried many rounds of IVF with #2 as I was told my RA and thyroid all seemed under control. However decided to stop and get on strong RA meds for a while as body obviously wasn’t calm despite what test results say. My advice is not rush, make sure you calm things down as much as possible. Despite what’s experts say a lot of ‘autoimmune fertility’ seems to be a guessing game so you need to proceed when you feel ready. And there ARE lots of success stories.

I have come on here tonight (also a newbie) for some positive posts in regards to fertility. I don’t appear to have any issues falling pregnant, but sustaining a pregnancy is where i fail. I have just had my 4th miscarriage today (one successful pregnancy) and I’m worried it’s linked to my rheumatoid/auto immune issues. Would also love to hear some positive success stories :)
