Arthritis exacerbated by fall

I recently fell and broke my pelvis..fortunately no surgery was required..just rest and exercise

Seven weeks on I’m worse than I was to begin with ..the pain got worse when I stopped using my cane

Does anyone think that the pain I have now is related to the arthritis I already had prior to the fall ?

I still need to take co dydramol 10 milligrams twice a day whereas before I took no medication

This pain is seriously getting me down

Any advice would be most appreciated

You have obviously had a nasty fall which has caused a very painful type of fracture. It can take quite a while to get over a pelvic fracture, maybe you should ask your gp to review your pain meds and also make a Physio referral. I hope things start to settle down soon for you as constant pain can wear you down. Best wishes 🌸

Thank you for taking the time to reply..I was discharged from A&E with no advice,no physio appointment

I have got myself over the fracture by Googling the best ways to get my mobility back including exercises

I feel I have got worse since I stopped using my cane ..so I have started to take more care

I just feel that the doctors didn’t care

That’s not good enough! I think you should see a doctor as soon as you can to hopefully get help and advice. Good luck x

Hello there, sorry to hear about your fall, the pelvis is a very difficult fracture and as I understand it takes some time to repair. If the pain is worse I would go to GP it is unusual not to be referred for physio, however soft tissue in that area can cause a fair bit of pain too, also any fall can excaberate arthritic joints too. It will take a long time to completely be better for example I am arthritic I fell seven weeks ago and broke a shoulder for the third time, it takes about 12 weeks to completely heal and upto 12 months to get full movement back during which time pain comes and goes, age and other health issue like arthritis can make healing longer, so you do need to take painkillers, maybe at higher dose while the bone heals, talk to your GP about it as soon as you are able. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
