Pain following a pattern

Good Morning Everyone

I have a bit of a puzzle that I hope someone will be able to help with. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis of the spine and hips, Osteoarthritis of the spine, hips and pelvis and a slight bulging disc. I am on 20mg Zomorph twice a day, 400mg Ibuprofen 3 times as day, 500mg Paracetamol 3 times a day and 5mg Prednisolone twice a day. The thing that's puzzling me is that the pain seems to be following a pattern over 3 week periods. Week 1: Pain is excrutiating, can hardly walk or stand and meds don't touch it. Week 2: pain still bad but meds taking the edge off it. Week 3: first 3 days pain is bearable and can cut down Ibuprofen and Paracetamol to one dose a day. Day 4: Pain starts to get worse again. Day 5: I am in complete agony again. I have spoken to my GP and he is as puzzled as I am. I can tell you to the day when the pain is going to become unbearable. It seems as though I am only ever going to get 3 relatively pain free days every 3 weeks and actually start to feel normal!

This suggests that the inflammation which is being kept in check probably by the ibuprofen, is increasing when you cut it back. Try cutting back only the paracetamol and see if the pattern changes.

Vitamin D and Vitamin K2, taken for the first three months with a good multi-vitamin and mineral tablet from a health food shop, should help the underlying problems. Added sugar makes the inflammation worse, and so do processed foods which contain a lot of unhealthy fats as well as added sugar. Cut out things containing aspartame, monosodium glutamate and artificial sweeteners as far as possible - and no coke.

As far as you are able, try to increase your intake of fruits, vegetables and pulses (beans, lentils etc), and eat less red meat - fish, white meat and nuts are better.

Some people find drinking a glass of water with up to a tablespoon of organic cider vinegar in it once a day eg on first getting up, can help, or use the vinegar in your cooking. If you can find anyway of increasing your intake of magnesium that will also help in the long run eg epsom salts in the bath?

Some of these suggestions should help, but they may take time.
