I know most people do it without a thought as it’s done naturally and assuming everyone is up on abbreviated wording; but to help those of us who don’t always understand what the abbreviated word means, it would help if posters could write the real meaning and bracket with the abbreviation.

I saw an earlier poster using “dx,” I’m sorry, but what does that mean? And so many other abbreviated words across all the different forums...

Thanks

Diagnosed 😊

I thought I’d seen a list of relevant acronyms on HealthUnlocked previously, but now I look I can’t find it. It would be very helpful to many if an Admin could add one as a pinned post.

I believe that dx stands for diagnosis - although you would need to go back to the original post to confirm if that fitted.

I think your right there. But how does ‘dx’ stand for diagnosis? Very bizarre, don’t see any x in that word tho.

I’ve seen an X used in other abbreviations in other areas. ie Wx for weather in hiking. It seems the x is used universally as shorthand.

I don't know why I'm afraid - only that Latin comes into it. Another odd one is Rx which stands for prescription.

As I’m a TV Cameraman, these abbreviations are always used in the studio and at an Outside Broadcast:

TX = Transmission

RX = Record/Recording or sometimes REC.
