Hi,

Just looking for advice from anyone that has had a relapse during peri menopause?

A while ago i posted i was worried about getting pp again after suffering in 2013 after the birth of my baby. I have been to my G.P and she thinks I am definitely going through the peri menopause :0( She has prescribed me HRT as I am only 42years old. I hope this helps my mood swings and stops pp from returning... Looking for any advice as I do not want to go through pp again! As do any of us! Thank you for listening.

Kind Regards

Anna x

Hello Anna_10

I didn't have a relapse during the perimenopause. I think in your previous post I mentioned that I had an early menopause due to a hysterectomy for fibroids. Was the link to Radio 4's Woman's Hour "Postpartum Psychosis and the Menopause" of any help?

I did relapse during my recovery years ago as I tried to manage medication myself and went downhill very quickly and almost back to square one. I wonder if your GP can refer you to Prof Ian Jones' Second Opinion Service which was mentioned in your earlier post?

On the 'frequently asked questions' page under personal experiences you can see " Val's Story" who is the lady featured in the 'Woman's Hour' programme at app-network.org/what-is-pp/.... Take care.

Dearest Anna,

just a quick note as I am in process of getting my son ready for school.

In my opinion we are recovering from PPP, but hormonal set backs can affect mind body and soul in many different, but unique ways; our template is individual.

I follow an alternative therapeutic regime and it suits me well.

I have been suffering for many years and was diagnosed by my GP with agora and social phobia. However, my mood swings have been extreme and certainly affected my life style.

I have had to establish a toolkit and ventured out to external support, away from my NHS partnership via APP.

The skype consultation with Professor Ian Jones was very therapeutic for my partner and I.

I have been diagnosed with Bi-Polar 1 … I always thought I suffered from menstrual Psychosis.

I am learning how to mood track more specifically, exercise, journalise and enjoy Reiki, Yoga and Meditation regularly.

Wishing you well on your journey of recovery. (if any queries about my toolkit and coping mechanism or if you want further details on my consultations with Ian I am more than happy to respond in the private message)

:-)
