Hello Holly1989

I've replied to your other post and I'm really sorry you're struggling to cope. Being a new mum is very tiring on its own so I'm not surprised you find it difficult to stay awake, probably with the effects of medication. It is difficult for partners and family to understand how we have changed and can't just snap out of it, so I hope the Guides will be helpful.

A new baby and coping with routine is very hard but with the right support you will be well again. I had PP twice and was under general psychiatric care for months so you should be proud of yourself that you are trying to cope at home. With my second PP I was mainly treated at home with professionals visiting daily so I hope you have similar support.

Thinking of you .......

Hello Holly1989 and welcome to the forum,

I hope you have found some useful information and shared experiences here and on your other post. It can be so hard being left with your baby and a partner who works a lot, I hope you have good support at home, from professionals and also friends/ other family members? I had a great CPN who visited me at home after I had been in the MBU and really helped with practical things. I would also really encourage you to ask from more help if you feel you need it. With a 3 week old baby, have you had a formal diagnosis or any other medical input? A new baby can be really hard, I hope you are managing to get some rest, do you think that meds are perhaps making you sleepy if you are taking them?

The APP Guides that Lilybeth posted to on your other link can also be found here, app-network.org/what-is-pp/... I hope that there is something that you can focus on to get you through the days. For me, it helped to try and get out of the house (easier said than done I know) and also spend some time doing nothing, just enjoying a cup of tea, perhaps when baby is sleeping.

Please keep writing here if it is helpful to you, take care and I promise that things can get better and easier with time and the right support, xx

I know exactly how you feel. Just try rest when you can say or night. Can anyone else help for a few hours ? There are nurseries depending where you live and I if you can afford it that start from newborn age if things very bad. Could you talk to your partner ask him to watch the baby and you have an early night ?
