Had ppp after the birth of our son in 2010. Think I knew something was wrong. About 2 weeks after his birth. Had been having strange dreams. Thoughts were turning strange. Thought my son had a twin and they were hiding him from me. The year before i gave birth to a daughter but she only lived for 8 hours due to a congenital disorder cdh. But no ppp then just grieving. So two pregnancies very close together. This probably didn't help. Was lucky to stay at home and had various different medications. In the end was on10mg of olanzapine and 800mg sodium valporate. Felt awful walked round like a zombie to start. Managed to reduce and come off 8 months later. Felt ok since. Just found out pregnant again. Really want another child. Husband worried about after baby born as am I. If I they think I need medication I Will. After baby born I hope. Just hated the side effects.

Hi,

I first had PP 38 years ago and was sectioned and hospitalised (in a general psychiatric asylum) for six months on and off. My ex-husband and I pondered whether we should have another child and six years elapsed before we had our second. PP hit me and again I had ECT in my recovery.

All these years on treatment has come so far and there are many younger mums than I here to offer advice regarding medications. On a positive note, thankfully with the treatment Ieceived I eventually recovered and to this day have a loving bond with my children.
