Anxiety herbal help

Hi guys just a quick question. I'm waiting to see my doctor next week about my anxiety and because of the work I do I want to avoid medication if possible. So I was wondering if anybody on here knows of any good herbal or natural remedies I coul try?

I find cutting caffeine & high sugar foods helps...

Citrus fruits are good for you & are relaxing

hi willrich, a lot of people who do not want to go down the prescription route try st johns wort which I think comes from the hipericum plant, but do not take anti depressants as well as they reduce their effectiveness. so really its a personal choice, take care. x

I agree about St Johns Wort (Kira were the best I'd tried) and bach flower remedies. I've used Rock Rose, Aspen, White Chestnut & Mimulus with varied degrees of success and have been thinking of trying Agrimony. The rescue remedy did nothing for me though, so maybe try out one of the specific remedies. Different strokes for different folks, as always. :)

Daily vitamin C has definitely helped me as it's a natural stress buster. It has some scientific reason that involves the stress hormone Cortisol that eludes me at the minute. Your body doesn't store up all that juicy vit C so make sure you replenish your stores every day (I scoff down some blueberries and a daily juiced orange for my vitamin C fix). Vitamin B12 and vitamin B complex supplements, cutting out caffine (M&S do the best de-caf tea bags out there and I've tried a LOT) and cutting back on sucrose in your diet (bad sugar), drinking your own body weight in water (feels like it sometimes ;P) as dehydration can make your anxiety much, much worse, exercise; as it works off a lot of that tense "fight or flight" type anxiety (Zumba is a life saver) and trying to get a daily 8 hours of sleep a night might help. You'll feel all shiny and healthy inside at the very least.

Oh, & Paul McKenna control stress helps take some of the edge off some days.

There's some great info in my stress bible ~ Panic attacks by Christie Ingham. Even if you don't get full blown panic attacks, a lot of the advice would apply to those of the highly anxious variety. Also writing a daily anxiety/ stress blog can be cathartic. I'm all old school and use a fancy schmancy Paperchase diary for my mind venting. Hidden under my bed. No really. ;P

Oh and hi all! Sorry about barging in here with advice and no "hello, I'm new" post. But..

Hey all. I'm new. :)
