Hi. pat. Haven't got them now but I, like you, went through misery before I realised that the only way out was to accept how I felt. Not to fight but to totally and completely give in. (Goes right against the grain). Then, wonder of wonders, it goes. This takes time, perseverance and a lot of patience. Haven't got it? Yes you have. You will be surprised how much courage you have when you try. We have ALL had your symptoms because they are all so common to the anxiety state but they are only(!!!) symptoms. They cannot harm you. I am NOT saying ignore them. You wont win that one. But accept them for the moment. Sit down, Take deep breaths, let them out slowly and try and relax as best you can and let the symptoms come. Yes, let it all happen. After a while, and to your surprise, you will find you haven't died!! You may even have a little relief. These symptoms won't always be with you. You WILL and CAN recover; it just needs application. Kind regards. jonathan.

Hi patricija3, I hope you're ok!

When I have a moment I get chest pain, palpitations, sweats, shakes, jelly legs and a stabbing/scratching sensation in my left side (left boob/rib area) lump in my throat, can't swallow, Think I'm dying and my thoughts run riot.

While all is going on I try to remember the words of wisdom from the lovely people on this site. Main ones are:- relax, do breathing exercises, stay calm, repeat in head ree llll aaaxxx (sounds silly but is calming lol) and just go with it let it pass by. When these don't work I find its because I'm so scared I'm dying that I feel like I am and then thoughts start to race and feelings get worse and it spins out of control and then I finally realise I'm still here and I'm absolutely exhausted (I feel like I've gone ten with Tyson) but I'm alive and I'm tired or maybe I am dying??? OOOOH hang on! not again......in (through nose) out (through mouth).

Sorry if that sounds crazy but I hope it helps cos that did just help me!

I've realised that I definitely have a form of health anxiety :-( but I don't think of the illness I may have I just fear the death part. Does that makes sense?

Oh and forgot to mention the bubbles in my body including chest and sick feeling.

All the best hun x

Oh yes, PB, it makes a lot of sense!!! Welcome to my world. That is definitely health anxiety you are describing (and describing very well). You're doing all the right things though. It just takes a while for your mind to get used to it!!!

Fab advice.

Keep going.x

Hello lizard, I'm sorry to hear you feel like this too! it's horrid at times especially when you think you're relaxed then realise that every muscle in your body is tensed up so much that you've nearly got a six pack and your shoulders are up by your ears!

I hate it so much! But yes I'm kind of coping with IT, and life's lovely little hurdles.

Hope you're ok hun! Best wishes xx

I got dizziness feeling of detachment from the world, nausea, feeling I was going to pass out, chest pain, palpitations, shakes, funny feelings, and feeling like there was a lump in my throat. I still get them every now and then but I am still learning not to had fear to it. it still frightens me but I talk to myself tell myself it's only feelings. this an I've had a bit of the detachment feelings and my head feels all moggy. it's not till I sit back and think wait there Donna I've been here before it's the anxiety again. then it just the case of not adding fear to it again to make it worse xx

HI Pat,

I have had Panic/Anxiety for over 35yrs. I have been to A&E all over the country. I think the worst thing is trying to rationlise what is happening during an attack. All symptoms point to a Heart Attack or some serious illness. Over the years I have suffered Health Anxiety. Not so much the fear of illness but Death and Dying. Having CBT as greatly helped with understanding what all the symptoms of a Panic Attack mean.I have bouts where I am afraid to talk as my words come out Gobbly Gook.I have walked the streets many times during the middle of the night phone in hand ready to dial 999. Looking back I have wasted nearly half my life thinking that I am about to die, Iam now 61yrs old and trying to concentrate on living instead.
