I told my boss my situation and explained I may have to leave quickly to sort myself out and he was very supportive of it. This also helped with the attacks because I knew I could leave when I needed to.

Hi Ruth, the best advice I received was 'don't fight the attack, let it happen'. When I tried to fight the symptoms I found I made myself worse because I was seeing them as something to fear. I actually had a very small physical sign of anxiety last night in the cinema. My heart suddenly raced and I felt like I Should stand up and walk around, instead I just took a deep breath and went 'OK' and took slow deep breaths acknowledging the feeling and within a minute or two the feeling had gone.

By not fearing the symptoms (although I know how horrible they can be when severe) you send a message to yourself which relaxes you rather than letting the anxiety take hold.

Mandy that was an excellent example. Good on ya girl for not running away from it. That is we have to deal with them. Practise the breathing you did every day about 3 times daily and for about 5 mins... Eventually you will not know your doing it and then anxiety will go almost as quick as it came. Good luck to you both. x
