Anyone else experienced this with their anxiety?

Hi, does anyone else experience fuzzy/dizzy ness that wakes them up through the night? I’ve been getting this often and then it stays with me for the rest of the day. I also have palpitations on a daily basis and the doctors say it’s severe anxiety but I can’t help feel that’s it’s something more. This dizziness and palpitations, butterfly feeling in my stomach has taken over my life. Can hardly put clothes in these days without feeling like I’ve ran a marathon and just can’t stop thinking something so wrong with my heart. Maybe some similar experiences would make me feel at ease?

NJM566, I too had severe anxiety at one time. I had the same symptoms as you.There are many little things that can help make you feel better. But it must start

with you believing that it is not your heart causing this but rather your doubts.

Anxiety comes from a negative thought in our brain. Once we focus in on that thought

it tends to get bigger becoming "fear begets fear" Fear causes adrenaline to rise, the

rise of adrenaline causes heart palps, churning stomach, Fear also can cause us to

mouth breathe which turns into shallow breathing which causes dizzyheaded feeling.

Another issue is dehydration. Drinking enough water throughout the day can help the

circulation work properly in your body eliminating the full headed dizzy feeling.

During the night while we sleep, we can automatically start clenching our jaw causing

tightness throughout the head and face and once again causing weird head sensations.

Waking up in the morning and feeling like you ran a marathon can be anticipatory anxiety coming from your anxiety in what the new day holds. Do you see how this circle of fear

continues throughout the day and night??

I personally, use Meditation and Breathing 3x a day. I start my day with a relaxing breath

and meditate, a short meditation midafternoon to regenerate and my last meditation is

before bed. That one before bed can leave a positive ending to the day in your subconscious mind which will allow you to sleep more deeply and relaxful.

As you can see, we can't just wish anxiety away but once we learn other methods/tools

to use, it can become a thing of the past. :) xx

It’s so hard not to believe it’s something sinister when it feels so real and affects me all day, sometimes the feeling lifts and I feel better for a day or two and then it comes back again, waking me from my sleep and feeling woozy and awful for the rest of the day.

I’m trying meditation at night which can be a hit or a miss sometimes but I will try it through the day aswell.

Every time it happens I just go back to square 1 convinced that something is seriously wrong with me, it’s hard to believe that anxiety makes you feel this bad! But my friend passed away In July so maybe it’s that too subconsciously.

Thanks for all your tips and help I will defo be trying them. I’ve got some natural herbal medication to help with anxiety so will hopefully help too.

JNM566, you must always start with a clean bill of health. Once it is establishedas anxiety, then you need to accept that diagnosis and work on that issue.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your friend in July. Losses can have an impact on our

natural fears and anxiety. It may very well have left a thought as to "if her, why not me?"

You are not your friend. I don't know if you are in therapy or on any medication but always be careful in mixing the two (even OTC or Herbal)

I wake up every single night dizzy and with palpitations but I don’t feel like I’m anxious about anything. The rest of my day is spent in the same state and nothing seems to help. I also can’t eat, my stomach feels full and bloated all the time as well as sick. It’s so hard to believe that anxiety is causing this?

I’ve got a therapist she’s wonderful but I came off medication 2 years ago as I was in the best place physically and mentally and now all of a sudden out of no where I started having weakness down my left side and felt weak and now every day is just the hope I don’t feel like someone’s sitting on my stomach and my heart banging out my chest.

I used to go to the gym 4x a week and walk 10-15000 steps a day and now I’m lucky if I can go for a simple walk or go to the gym twice a week without my heart rising really high for some reason.

Feeling like this loop may never end if it is anxiety alone and not a medical issue. I’ve been off work for a month and need to go back next week and I don’t know how I’m going to do it.

Hi NJM, You don't have to feel that you are anxious about anything, however yoursubconscious mind is playing back all your fears and happy thoughts throughout the

night and day. 24/7 you are inundated with these thoughts and memories whether you realize it or not.

These thoughts are what can wake you from a peaceful sleep into a realistic nightmare of fear and panic. The thoughts then make the adrenaline rise giving

as physical symptoms.

These physical symptoms need to be addressed by your doctor not just the therapist.

This fear loop/cycle that you are in must be broken. Unless you know and believe what causes these symptoms, it will go on and on.

Going back to work next week, sounds like a stressor for sure. That uncertainty just

allows the anxiety to continue. Any chance in you seeing your doctor this week?

Maybe it's time to be put on a little medication so that you no longer are subject to

this palps and fear of them. (let your doctor know about the weakness you are feeling as well)

As for the full and bloated feeling, yes, anxiety can cause that as well as a physical issue. With anxiety, it comes from our swallowing air when we talk, breath and even eat. So you see there can be an answer to your concerns but only your doctor can

determine where it comes from .... emotional or physical. I care :) xx

So sorry to hear your having a difficult time with anxiety at the moment but please he assured it will pass. Night be days weeks months but It does get better. I'm currently suffering horrific anxiety while medication gets into my system I wake up every morning with a nervous butterfly feeling then as soon as I get out of bed the heart starts racing really fast I get the shakes sweats reach to be sick end up in a right state. My GP give me propanol which slows the heart rate down stops the shakes and subsides the sweats so I take one each morning. It eases the anxiety but it remains there. I also use mind apps on my phone and play games that make me think about something other than anxiety. I also get the sensation of fuzzyness in my head I'll often say my head feels like cotton wool a just can't concentrate or focus. Please reassure yourself it's just anxiety playing tricks on you and the more you worry and panic the more you feed the anxiety xx

I’ve 3 days this week that’s have been a bit better so that gives me hope. Yesterday was a bad day, all day I felt dizzy and woozy headed with my heart palpitations going on all day. I can hardly put my clothes on when I have days like that. Makes me appreciate to the good days a lot more. It started with having weakness down my left side and a racing heart then it’s just be a regular thing from there. I’ve had panick attacks before but nothing like this, that’s why I’m finding it so hard to believe it’s anxiety as it’s like nothing I’ve experienced before. It’s like I’m in a hell loop and I cry most days just hoping for a good day where I don’t have to worry about something bad happening to me.

I really don’t want to go back on medication so I’m trying a natural anxiety remedy first and see how I get on.

I hope you get some relief too, it’s nice to know I’m not alone although I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

This sounds like me the left side and palpitations .o have to train my mind to say ok nothing is wrong calm down heart and mind . It’s a hard thing . I deal with chronic anxiety at times

It’s so hard to believe it is anxiety and that it causes such physical issues! I wake up every night with dizzyness and the rest of my day is spent like I’m hungover and someone is sitting on my stomach.

Yes it is . The dr and counselor said when I get this way it’s chronic stress. The physical symptoms are real . I had to find away to calm it down . I’m here if you need to talk I understand trust me

Have you found anything that works to settle the feeling? I do meditation at night but it’s a hit or a miss. I still usually wake up with wooziness and palpitations then that’s me awake for hours. I’ve been through hell and back in my life and had depressions/panick attacks but never experienced anything like this. I was in the best place is been physically and mentally before this started. Now it consumes me every day.
