Has anyone experienced terrible fear of Covid vaccine?

My anxiety is out of control. I've been experiencing shortness of breath since Jan. Today I booked an appointment to go for the covid vaccine. I am terrified of side effects and that it will make my breathing worse and I will die. Has anyone had the shot and got through it fine? I want to cancel but I also feel I should get it done. I'm battling fear thinking about it.

Hi I don't know how old you are or whether you have a medical condition which would make you think this, but I will say I am in my 60's and have lung disease and I have had my vaccination.

I think there is far more chance of getting covid than of having a life threatening illness from the jab. I haven't heard of anyone dying from the jab but obviously have heard of many who have had the disease and sadly passed. This is more often those who are older or have a serious medical condition. Some younger people have died too though those aren't in the majority but it's still better to have the jab than risk dying from covid.

Take a deep breath and make up your mind that you will be much safer having your vaccination than not.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am 72. I appreciate what you said and will try to focus on it. They don't know why I'm suffering with this shortness of breath. Some say its from my anxiety disorder. I will try to focus on the fact I will be safer after the shot.

I got it! I have an autoimmune disorder so generally my doctor won’t even let me get vaccines like flu shots because it disrupts my body so much and makes me so sick

But I got both doses of the covid vaccine and have been fine! The day after each I was feverish and achy (felt like the flu) but other than that I felt fine. I was honestly shocked lol I was so worried too but I’m glad I got them. I just kept reminding myself that the short term affects are waaay better than getting covid

Good luck!! 💙💙

Have you tried box breathing? I assume you’ve had a doctor/s look at your chest (lungs) and they are fine. If not go there first. So next part is your anxiety. When you get into an anxious state your blood and brain chemistry change. You can easily reset them using box breathing. Try this healthline.com/health/box-b.... At the very least cover your mouth with a paper bag and breath in and out a few times. It might make you a bit light headed so do it sitting down. If you feel light headed stop and enjoy the relaxing sensation. Repeat as required. Once you are calm you can deal with anything including your jab.

I could have written this post! I was terrified of going to get the vaccine but somehow I gathered my strength and went on Saturday. I was so scared I would go into anaphylaxis and stop breathing the moment I got the shot. I kept checking my breathing the whole 30 minutes I had to wait after the vaccine! Long story short, no issues like you’re fearing at all, and none of the other people waiting (there were a bunch) had any issues at all. I had minor side effects about 12 hours after the vaccine but nothing big. I had a bit of nausea on and off, a small headache similar to what I get when the weather changes (Advil wiped that out) and I was a bit tired. But the next day I celebrated Easter with my family. Last night I had some sore muscles in my neck and shoulders. Took some Advil and we to bed. I feel fine today. I got the Moderna shot. The shot process was so not a big deal like i thought. Side effects were so mild I didn’t really impact anything. I kept waiting to have some kind of delayed reaction and ha e to go to the ER or something. All was good. I’m sure you’ll be fine too.

Thank you soooooo much for sharing. Yes, I'm imagining all kinds of terrible side effects right after the shot, passing out, ambulance, hospital alone. I've been living with severe anxiety for over a year now (daily anxiety for the past 5 yrs). Your post has given me some hope!

My advice is really research .. look up the risks of catching the virus and your chances of recovery from the virus vs the side effects of the vaccine!... for me I am opting to not have the vaccine. I can’t justify getting a vaccine with known serious side effects over the risk of catching a virus with a 99%+ survival rate.. but you have to decide what’s best for you because it’s your body.
