Pushed away by my own doctor 😡

Just an update on my pulsatile Tinitus. So I still have PT in my left ear only .8 weeks now .I have had a MRI of my inner ears and brain stem to rule out tumours etc.all came back normal .so because of the scary stories I have read on line and in this forum about PT I asked to be referred to ent or somebody that can check what is going on .I asked if I could have an ultrasound on my neck to rule out blood vessel blockage etc .well because I have quite bad health anxiety the doctor don't want to get me all anxious again like I got leading up to the MRI I have tried to explain that this time I won't get that bad because it's not MRI ,but they are having none of it .I have phoned at least 3 times and now I am not even getting to speak to a doctor anymore ,a nurse calls me back ..And they all say the MRI should of put my mind at rest ,yes it did but that was of my ears then she said the MRI would of picked up blockages in my neck really ? Even I'm not that stupid ,I had a MRI of my ears not my neck ...they have basically said their is no more they can do for me and just to take prooeranol which does actually help with the PT ...I feel like I am being fobbef off ...what if I have a stroke or heart issue because this PT is happening for a reason and nobody wants to find out why .sorry for the vent x

I know the feeling about being pushed away, one of my doctors fired me as a patient cause he didn’t know what to do for me anymore.

Let’s look at at this..... the MRI is of the whole head not just your ears. You haven’t been diagnosed with PT, this plus no tumors were found. The MRI would have detected abnormalities, MRIs are used to help doc evaluate PT, but it was not detected. You were given the all clear. Peace of mind not felt cause the tinitus is still there and you have no known cause. I get this.

I’m so sorry you are still having troubles with the tinnitus. I have been trying to help ease your mind, but of course I’m not a doctor or ent specialist, it’s why you should trust the radiologists and your doctors evaluation.

My opinion, I believe your tinnitus may be caused by medications, you are on 3 that can cause it, aging, hearing loss, etc.

Try a second opinion to ease your mind? Are you in therapy for health anxiety? My husband finally got used to his tinnitus (has had it at least 25 years, he’s 61) instead of fighting it, you can eventually get used to it, it will become quieter and less bothersome when you stop focusing on it, find the right sounds that help mask and drown it out, distract yourself when you become hyper focused on it (coping strategies for anxiety and for coping with the tinnuits), etc.

I hope you get feeling better. 🌺💜

hi roxidawn.

Thank you so much for your reply , i was not aware the MRI was of my head i thought it was just of the ears , well that has eased my mind a little .I have to admit that since i was put on propanol which was quite a few months ago i didn't have tinnitus before i started taking them ,but saying that the propranolol is really helping to quieten the tinnitus as it is a beta blocker and lowers my heart rate and blood pressure i can hardly hear the T which is such a relief to me . I am however weaning off Prozac .i have been on this medication since 2013 for menopausal reasons and i just think it is doing nothing for me anymore ,plus one of the side affects of Prozac is ringing in the ears ,it actually says that on the leaflet inside so this is another reason i want to come off. My doc says to take 1 tab every 3 days for 1 month then stop ,so far its working ok . I am not in therapy for my anxiety ,i have tried this a few times and for some reason it really does not help at all so i have just got on with it . i have a very supportive family ,my daughter who is 37 also suffers HA so we help each other . my husband is a diamond and very understanding ,even tho he dont understand HA ,he is so laid back its unreal ,i really wish i was like him ,nothing phases him .Thank you for trying to reassure me which you have . hope your feeling ok ? and staying safe xx

I’m so glad to hear you have some peace of mind. It truly helps us to have a loving family in our court. I have a diamond for a husband too, he’s super clueless about anxiety. He’s so laid back as well, we are very opposite of each other but it works. Has for 23 years.

Stay safe yourself, try not worry so much, I think you are on the right path with the meds. 🌺💜🌺💜

Just to say i have had tinnitus in one ear for the last 50 years. If you can stop worrying about the cause you do get used to it and don't notice it.

Yes, I am fully aware. My husbands had it 25 years. Thank you.
