So scared

Wearyofthebattle profile image

I am pretty terrified of this Covid virus. Today one of my friends dropped by and sort of caught me unawares and just invited herself in. I stay home ALL the time, have no visitors, and it’s my sanctuary that I keep cleaned & sanitized so as to have a comfort level that gives me some sense of control. She was masked and didn’t stay long, but right before leaving, she briefly undid her mask and SNEEZED right into one of the rooms! A quick sneeze, and didn’t even cover her mouth!!! I could not believe it! Now what do I do? I’m literally feeling nauseous right now because I’m so upset. With all the reports of aerosols hanging around, all floating in the air for hours, days, weeks???? Should I be worried? I sprayed some Lysol around, in the air of that room after she left. But of course all I can think about is fear. And I’m so angry. How could anybody be so stupid and irresponsible to wear a freaking mask, then remove it to shoot germs everywhere??? I need some perspective before I lose my mind. I have no reason to think she would be infected with Coronavirus but naturally I just assume EVERYONE has it...

So sorry that happened to you. I understand your anxiety. My husband and I are in the high risk group and live in Florida. So it’s a bit stressful. Just keep doing what you’re doing. There’s nothing you can do now. Other than your sanitizing as usual. Hang in there.

I’m trying; it’s really hard for me. Thanks for reply!

Hello :-)

I had to smile when I read your post because you sound so much like me when it comes to this virus

No one would get in here and I think you did well as she would have been ex friended had she done that to me !

I am extreme so maybe not the best person to give advise but I would have put a mask on , gone and wiped the room from top to bottom , left a window open for 72 hours before I used the room again and then sent her a message to say don't call me Ill call you next time !

Like I said I am ocd anyway so maybe don't listen to me but I just wanted to let you know that I would have been annoyed to , anxious and upset and I think your friend needs to go back to the guidelines she seems to have got them wrong !

I am sure you will be ok , just let air in the room and so air can get out to :-)

Take Care x

Yes, close the room but open the windows. Stay out of the room for 12 hours, and the virus should have dissipated or become unviable. Disinfect any hard surfaces she touched - fortunately, sneezing isn’t a common symptom of COVID-19, but I support your caution.

Dear Wearyofthebattle I cannot say do not worry ,I can only say I would not think twice about it. I have had my family sneeze several times and I have not caught anything.easy for me to say because that is not my worry! If you said to me take a trip on the next train I would be sick with fear. I know you might say he has not got to go on a train and I agree.

The numbers sound alarming but if you say it in how many people out of a thousand have had the virus in the world and made a perfect recovery compared to those who died it makes you see how rare death from it is. A lot of people will have no symptoms at all, a lot will have very mild ones. Try your best to put it in perspective. I know life is hell when you worry all the time because there is no time left to enjoy the little things! Face float and let time pass and all will be better.

You have done all you can to avoid this virus if everybody did the same it would be gone so much quicker but even in my family members have flouted the rules because of the loss in income that would happen.

Many could not live without work in the world so some have to carry on slaving away when they should not just to put food on the table, not my family I must say we are lucky.

Try to be Acceptingofthebattle because I know that is the only way to get better, so do not fight accept.

Keep safe and take care.

Say to your friend to bring plenty of tissues and a bit of kindness next time she calls. Perhaps she does not make a time to call as you may have been in a state waiting for her to arrive? Just a thought.

Thinking of you.

No thank you for bothering to thank me. You are obviously a very polite and kind person that is half the reason you suffer like you do. Others do not give a minute to take other people’s worries on board. As I said keep safe I know you will.
