I want to get help..

Hi everyone,

I not been diagnosed by a doctor yet but have crippling anxiety around alcohol. I really want to try and get help so that my friends and family can return to normal. I promised my boyfriend that after lockdown started to ease I would seek out help.

The problem is I don’t know who I can go to? Who do I speak to? I don’t really want to speak to my GP because I feel like I will just be bothering her with nonsense and I have had stomach issues for over a year so she has had a lot of input in my medical life already. Even thinking about contacting her about it gets me feeling anxious.

Is there anyone else I can go to?

I would speak with your gp. I know it makes you feel a little anxious about it but that would be the best route to start off with. You could always ask if they can set you up with someone to help.

Not sure exactly how your problem affects you but there is an organisation called Alcohol Change that might be of help ?

Please don't feel you are telling your doctor nonsense she is there to help and care for you
