I was wondering if anyone else on here has a fear of dying there hair. Sounds silly i know but I’m terrified of having an allergic reaction to PPD. Even though I have died my hair many times over the years, since my anxiety started I haven’t been able to pluck up the courage to do it. I bought a box die yesterday and was meant to do the patch test last night but even doing that terrifies me. I wont even consider going to a salon beacause I know I’ll freak out as soon as they put it on my hair. Plus I can’t really afford to at the minute. I’d rather freak out in the comfort of my own home haha.

I have always been ok when my hairdresser does it but during this lock down I bought one and yes I freaked out with the same fears and had to wash it of it got that bad
Hopefully my hairdresser can come this weekend and I can't wait for it to be done , so basically fine when hairdresser does it no way can I cope if I buy one and try to do it
Thanks for your reply. I have managed to keep most of my anxieties under control but it’s just this one I haven’t quite mastered yet. I only want to cover my very fast incoming of grey hairs lol. xx
Yes, I have had that same fear, in fact I spent over a year without dying my hair when normally I dye it every 3 weeks because I've got loads of grey. The first time I did a patch test and the first time I dyed it I had a good friend with me, I was so nervous I was crying but I was also very determined. I also made sure I had some anti allergy tablets in the house just in case. Since that went well, the next time I went to the haidressers, I had to keep phoning my friend and I would wisper to her LOL that I felt my throat was closing. Anyway, nowadays I do it every 3 weeks without a second thought.
Do you have a friend who can be with you the first time?
Yes it’s been over a year for me too and my greys are coming through more and more everyday. I’ve just done the patch test about an hour ago and my anxiety at just doing that has me near panic mode. I feel so silly even just saying that LOL. My niece is currently in college doing hairdressing and she has offered to come over and apply it for me and sit with me when I apply it.
Great, sometimes we just have to take a leap of faith and go for it. I'm sure you'll be fine. I got to a point where I was so limited that I just thought "if I have to die doing X or Y or Z then so be it". But the reality is that you'll be just fine!! Grey hairs suck lol
Not sure if you are in the UK but there has been advertised on TV and cannot remember what it is called either ( not much use ) but it is something like root touch up and it is not permanent but you just sort of brush it on your roots and it covers them , I think it washes back out when you wash your hair , I know so many that have been using it and talk highly about it and there is no reaction

Mine too unfortunately 😂. Yes i’m in the UK, Newcastle Upon Tyne. I was using the Loreal root touch up spray when I only had a few greys but the transfer onto your hands if you touched your hair at all was ridiculous. I see the advert advertised as Transfer resistant but it’s really not. I’ve never tried the powder though, but like you say I too am passed that stage LOL.
I’m not, but I eventually stopped because it’s a headache to do. My mom eventually started going bald. There are natural hair dyes you can buy. Is it possible to have a reaction to the dye? Sure, but if you’re that concerned then don’t do it. Try the Natural kind😷🙏
