Hit head and bad bad anxiety about it

Hi everyone,

I hit the top of my head hard on my shower handle in the bathroom on Tuesday gone, it hasn't bruised and no bump from what I can feel but I'm just so worried, I suffer with anxiety anyway and can't stop panicking, I didn't pass out or bleed and I've spoke to my GP over the phone on the Wednesday who asked me some diagnostic questions and said not to worry but everyday I seem to be worrying more and more doesn't help that I'm literally sitting thinking of nothing else so have myself thinking I have all these scary symptoms, I'm also 38 weeks pregnant and don't want to be so anxious when I'm going to be having my baby soon, just can't stop worrying! Has anyone else had a clumsy head hitting moments?

I had an incident a few months ago while taking a bath

the shower head fell off the holder and hit me in the head

from a distance. I'm on Coumadin and have to be careful

of bumps and bruises. The first 24 hours are important,

the fact that you didn't pass out, no lumps or bumps is a good

sign. Since that happened 6 days ago, you should be okay now.

I'm glad you did call your doctor at the time.

Now it's time to let go of that worry and get ready for the Blessed

Event. Good Luck to you :) xx

Thank you so much for replying!

I consulted Dr Google before anything else which I know made me 100000 times worse, I’ve thought of nothing else so I really will try to relax about it! Thank you so much and you take care and stay safe ❤️ Xxx

You should be fine if it’s been 6 days and no dizziness or other symptoms. I’m a EMT

Are you worrying about you or baby? A bump to the head wont cause any harm to baby and I guess by now any I'll effects to yourself will have become apparent. The end of pregnancy is a notorious time for worry, and being in this situation with covid doesnt help anyone. Are you seeing the midwife this week you should at 38/40, I think if your continuing to worry or be anxious it's worth sharing your concerns with her as the change in hormones can have awful effects on you now and postnatal if not addressed.

All the best for the birth x

Hi, thank you for replying!

I was worrying about me as awful as that sounds, I consulted Dr Google straight away and it terrified me! I’ve suffered with anxiety pretty much my whole pregnancy I usually take fluoxetine but had to stop taking it when I fell pregnant so have struggled I won’t lie. I saw the midwife last week at 37 weeks and have repeatedly told her about how anxious I’ve been but it seems to have always been overlooked, I was given a self referral number for CBT which I am waiting for a call back for. And you’re totally right being in the middle of a global pandemic has not helped one bit 😔 thank you so much xx

Are you in the UK? Have you self referred to IAPT? How long have you been waiting? Might be worth ringing and saying your pregnant you should get priority. Also does your trust have a perinatal mental health team? Also have a look at perinatal mental health partnership on FB x

Many years ago I took a bad fall roller skating with my kids and hit my head so Hard I just laid down for a little bit. Nothing came of it. I think you’re feeling this way because you’re worried about your baby, I think that’s Normal. When I was pregnant I worried about everything I did wanting to protect my unborn baby 👶🏻. Yout Doctor doesn’t seem concerned I’d leave it at that. The Stress you’re putting yourself through can be more harmful to you. Take Care and enjoy your upcoming baby....CONGRATULATIONS 🙏👶🏻

I tripped over a raised flagstone on Saturday and smashed my nose and bridge as I hit my on another flagstone, blood was pouring out of both nostrils I was with my wife and a neighbour, some other people came to my aid and got me sat on the floor sat up and were passing me copious hankies to catch the blood, one was a nurse and rang for an ambulance but I would have to wait, Somy wife took me to A&E I was triaged then waited for twenty minutes to see has nurse, she took my blood pressure and said I would see a doctor shortly, I wasn’t in much pain. I had been there two hours then and it was getting busy so I said to my wife let’s go home, I didn’t see a doctor. I was protecting us from catching Covid 19. The bridge of my nose has a gash with a plaster on, my nostrils have healed and are not bleeding. I don’t blow my nose too hard or I may damage my sinus until fully healed but I am ok and I didn’t have concussion. You should do some relaxation and breathing exercises to calm you down. Bless you gilou2.
