My blood pressure got up to 160 over 108 at the doctor's office today.

It's never been that high.

I have symptoms of tightness around my back muscles my stomach I don't know if this is anxiety stress or problem from the blood pressure.

My doctor didn't seem concerned with the blood pressure reading.

I went to the doctor because of having ear pain and teeth pain for over a week now.

I have had mine get that high at the doctor due to my fear of the doctor lol. Keep in mind your blood pressure will also increase when you are in pain. Keep an eye on the tightness and see if it changes once things are more calm for you

Thank you! I have noticed when I'm lying down that the pain around my waist back and chest seems to relax some and comes back when I am standing.

How do you notice that you are carrying yourself while standing? Are you focused on all the things you have to do and are purely task driven? I find that I get in these task driven modes when my anxiety is heightened. I tend to stand differently and have a lot more tension in my legs, back, and neck. I have even noticed it in my face

That sounds a lot like me.

Anxiety causes you to tense up every muscle in your body. I have a lot of tension in my neck. This feeling in my back and in my stomach it's hard to describe.

Feels like somebody's twisting my muscles into a knot.

Or like being wrapped with an Ace bandage.

I think that the tightness is from dealing with the pain and anxiety. Hopefully the pain you were dealing with will subside soon. Then you will relax a little more. The rest will fall suit.

My BP is always higher when I get it tested at GP. At home it’s always normal so I wouldn’t worry too much. For 2 weeks I’ve been experiencing tight back and neck muscles, giving me headaches. I try to do stretching exercises to relieve the pain - as well as the usual pain killers. Anxiety can make muscles tight and painful, so it’s about trying to loosen them. Take care.

I've also had toothache and ear pain. I put it down to a sinus infection.

I think high blood pressure is not a disease .I think it is a reaction of a condition.of an underlying stress.unless if there is a certain damaged part in the body that is not being oxygenated.anyway when we go to the doctor and prescribe us medicines without even knowing what is the reason for the hbp and then suffering from side effects then I think that is a big deal.how we treat the symptoms and not the cause?.and just to be honest some of the hbp medications can cause a depression too.so what do u think?

Hi, Autumn.

So, I’ve been dealing with this exact same thing!

The ear issues are no doubt from the high blood pressure (if it’s ringing and whooshing) the external carotid artery and also the jugular vein run right beside sound nerves by the ear and when you get that turbulent blood flow (from high blood pressure) you get this effects and sometimes pain. There’s a facial nerve also in the exact same area that can be effected.

I’ve been having really bad BP spikes up to number that you mentioned and have recently had multiple trips to the ER. I had a CT scan of my head and everything is fine. It’s ANXIETY/panic attacks that are causing the high blood pressure and spikes (a small price to pay for not using anti anxiety meds which isn’t a road you want to go down)

Control the blood pressure with medication first and diet well. You must also calm down and get the anxiety under control.

I’m taking two daily doses of 10mg lisinopril to control my BP (still have some ear issues) because I can’t seem to manage my anxiety but I’m not giving up. Exercise and diet seem to help and keeping the mind busy. Buy a new book. Start drinking some boiled turmeric root w/black pepper and lemon.

We must control our anxiety! (And obviously our BP) ... if your BP is that high you absolutely need to be on BP meds.

Right here with you and it stinks but have faith and make good decisions! You will be alright!
