Having trouble sleeping at night.

So for the past week or so I’ve been having trouble sleeping. It’s at that point now where I’m actually awake till early hours of the morning. As I’m dealing with anxiety and with everything going in it doesn’t help. I’ve got 3 young children back to home schooling tomorrow during the day I’m tired doesn’t help. Has anyone got any good remedies or advice that can help please.

Stay safe & well xx

Sleep problems are a sign of anxiety. Are you like this every night or is it just occasionally. I would advise getting up and do some form of distraction like reading a book watching tv listening to relaxing music until you feel tired. Hope thus helps.

Hello

It’s been really every night since all this started with this out break. I’m also a carer for my mum whi lives with me and I have 3 young kids all whom I’m home schooling at the moment. One would think I would be tired come night but I juts can’t. All types of things in my mind. Yes I do have anxiety not sure how long I’ve had it? But it’s really showing now.

Its amazing how little sleep we can survive on. Im sure if you could do some relaxation exercises before yiu went to bed you would sleep better. Try some lavendar oil on your pillow.

Yes I have had anxiety and sleep problems for a while. You can get lavendar oil from Boots or Holland & Barrett. Have a magnesium or epson salt bath that is very relaxing too.

Stress and a change in routine definitely has a big impact on our sleep. Caring for three young children and an adult will be taking a toll on your own wellbeing especially if you dont have time to practice your own self care. Youre probably experiencing a heightened state of alertness especially now with all this additional worry. I know its not really business as usual at the mo but Id try reaching out for support if things dont improve, for example your GP or there should be a local carer support team who you can contact even if its just to talk. I wouldnt put too much pressure on yourself to home school either it is okay to slow down and just be present. Ive found anxiety can quickly swallow us up if we dont acknowledge it and keep going at 100mph.

After experiencing anxiety for a number of years I have developed a little bedtime ritual that helps me, I use a lavender sleep pillow spray from Boots which I spray all over my bed and pillow. I usually drink a horlicks and read my book in bed with a hot water bottle. I also sometimes splash out on the sleepy body lotion from Lush! Theres also sleep hypnotherapy and breathing exercises Ive used on youtube when Ive really struggled but more often than not its trying to identify what is causing your anxiety, that is impacting upon your sleep and if anything can be done to change it.

Things will and do get better :) x

I’ve been suffering sleep issues for about almost 2 weeks as well . I just can’t seem to sleep mother of 3 the impact of coronavirus has heightened anxiety to the highest.

I feel like I’m having a hard time sleeping with my breathing so it keeps me up I’ve tried yoga it helped once but that’s bout it .

If I find something that help me I’ll let you know .

Good luck
