I’ve been on 5mg of citalopram for about two weeks now and, even though its a tiny dose, I can’t stand the side effects. Insane anxiety, brain fog and appetite loss among other things. So Im going off it immediately since I cant stay employed in this condition.
My question is: for those who gave up on citalopram in the first few weeks, how long did it take for the side effects to dissipate?

Everyone is different. I am extremely sensitive to certain medications and with some the psychiatrist prescribed, I had immediate reactions. Certainly talk to your doctor, but I identify with having unpleasant side effects to certain meds. It seemed to take forever to find time combinations that started to work.
I didn’t react well to citalopram. I was on 20mg for two weeks. I switched to mirtazapine. I had to cut down to 10mg of citalopram for 3 day’s then stop. So if your only on 5mg I think u will be okay to just stop but I would get ur doctors advice xxx
I stopped taking Citalopram as I felt awful with side effects. I was put on mirtazapine and that was worse, terrible headaches.
Am now on Sertraline and have been for some time with good results. It takes a couple of weeks or so to adjust but my anxiety about most things has been reduced dramatically and I feel free from it for the first time in years.
